A Bushwick bar with manicures and kitsch galore.. Fourteen years after owner Paul Devitt opened the first Beauty Bar in Manhattan, the national mini-chain has returned to New York, this time under the gritty JMZ line in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Kitschy decor and manicures are present, of course, although this time the flavor is distinctly ‘70s instead of ‘50s, with sparkly striped walls and vintage furniture from a salon in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This being Bushwick, the vibe is both arty and debaucherous, featuring everything from go-go dancers to killer DJ dance parties to special events like vintage fashion shows.
