Joy rocks, her work is stunning :D. I was looking for an alternative to judgmental and snooty tattoo parlor treatment I'd gotten elsewhere in NYC; I stumbled across Joy's blog (1228tattoo.blogspot) - and made an appointment. I brought her a bunch of different design ideas and tried to explain what I was looking for. She totally understood and created a beautiful design for me that was exactly what I'd been picturing! She's friendly and approachable, her work is great, shop is clean, her aftercare instructions are comprehensive and I could not have asked for a better experience.

Got my first tattoo here.
I went to 1228 for my first tattoo and it was a great experience. The place was very clean and sterile. I was guided through the experience of getting a tattoo and it was quite pleasant (besides the actual tattooing). Joy was great, very caring and I dare say nurturing. My tattoo was very simple lettering, pretty small too and she did a fantastic job.
I would definitely go back again for my next tattoo (actually the only place I would go)!
