What People Are Saying About Sweet Revenge

In Short – Bar-deficient Bed-Stuy gets a boost with this stylized haunt decked out with shiny vinyl booths, wood-grain wallpaper and a Formica-topped bar, which seats arty Pratt undergrads and grizzled neighborhood stalwarts alike. Young, genial bartenders serve basic beers such as creamy Guinness pints and Red Stripes (no local microbrews), as well as surprisingly addictive Wildwoods (spiced rum and orange soda). Early evenings, Sweet Revenge is suited for contemplative drinks or catch-up time with friends; late-night weekends, wear your dancing shoes and shimmy 'til dawn. –…
ok but not for me

I've been to this place a few times with friends and can never really get into it but what the heck I figured it's OK for an after-work drink. There seems to be a very young crowd which is OK if you're in your early 20's.
I went on what I thought was Jazz night which I suspected should have drawn a more mature 30 something crowd (women in particular). You could barely hear the music because of sound restrictions and when they brought the music inside the sound was terrible; save a lone guitar player and a mature trumpet player who looked completely annoyed and out of place. There was no Jazz going on and I dare to say it turned into poor hip-hop night. I say go to SR if you are not bothered but unpleasant sounds and 20 something kids drinking too much.
We gave it an honest shot but my boys and and I will probably stay away from this place for a few months. Hopefully they'll have their act together but we'll never go on a Wednesday :).
The bartender was great. (David?)
- Pros: nice bartender, in the hood
- Cons: young kids and inconsistent vibe,
I used to enjoy coming here.

Not so much anymore. I went to their anniversary party on Saturday and when I got there the bouncer (tall older man) got extremely angry at me for saying "Hey" to him. He was furious and proceeded to lecture me about "my generation" and how we are rude and that if his forty year old son ever said "hey" to him that he would beat him. It was very inappropriate and extremely scary. I walked away and didn't even go in. Several times I have been here and there were incidents where the bartender completely ignored me so he could socialize or clean the bar. I have waited a long time for drinks. Other times I was completely disrespected in a similar way by employees.
That same bouncer has done similar things to friends of mine. If you want to be harassed and feel unwelcome for no reason this is a great bar but if you prefer not to be insulted try another Le toukouluer has $10 bottles of wine and cheap beer with free food and a friendly staff. I guess Sweet Revenge can afford to turn down business for no reason at all
- Pros: Backyard is nice. Sometimes good music or parties.
- Cons: Bouncer, bartenders, rudeness.

This place is unwelcoming and I do not recommend it... THERE IS NO NEED TO SUPPORT A PLACE WHERE THE OWNER ITSELF IS RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL... I been there 3 time trust me and I will not be back... The staff is pretentious and the owner is out right rude.... she needs to be out of business there was one nice bartender on Wednesday... Its never more then 10 people in the bar and I've always waited 15mins or more for m next drink..... WALK BYE THIS PLACE
- Pros: NONE!!
- Cons: The Whole Bar needs to go
