ok but not for me. I've been to this place a few times with friends and can never really get into it but what the heck I figured it's OK for an after-work drink. There seems to be a very young crowd which is OK if you're in your early 20's.

I went on what I thought was Jazz night which I suspected should have drawn a more mature 30 something crowd (women in particular). You could barely hear the music because of sound restrictions and when they brought the music inside the sound was terrible; save a lone guitar player and a mature trumpet player who looked completely annoyed and out of place. There was no Jazz going on and I dare to say it turned into poor hip-hop night. I say go to SR if you are not bothered but unpleasant sounds and 20 something kids drinking too much.

We gave it an honest shot but my boys and and I will probably stay away from this place for a few months. Hopefully they'll have their act together but we'll never go on a Wednesday :).

The bartender was great. (David?)

I used to enjoy coming here.. Not so much anymore. I went to their anniversary party on Saturday and when I got there the bouncer (tall older man) got extremely angry at me for saying "Hey" to him. He was furious and proceeded to lecture me about "my generation" and how we are rude and that if his forty year old son ever said "hey" to him that he would beat him. It was very inappropriate and extremely scary. I walked away and didn't even go in. Several times I have been here and there were incidents where the bartender completely ignored me so he could socialize or clean the bar. I have waited a long time for drinks. Other times I was completely disrespected in a similar way by employees.

That same bouncer has done similar things to friends of mine. If you want to be harassed and feel unwelcome for no reason this is a great bar but if you prefer not to be insulted try another Le toukouluer has $10 bottles of wine and cheap beer with free food and a friendly staff. I guess Sweet Revenge can afford to turn down business for no reason at all

Its only a place for the Owners Friends!!!! Walk By. This place is unwelcoming and I do not recommend it... THERE IS NO NEED TO SUPPORT A PLACE WHERE THE OWNER ITSELF IS RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL... I been there 3 time trust me and I will not be back... The staff is pretentious and the owner is out right rude.... she needs to be out of business there was one nice bartender on Wednesday... Its never more then 10 people in the bar and I've always waited 15mins or more for m next drink..... WALK BYE THIS PLACE

Drunk Bartender. As a former bartender and current South Slope bar owner, I was shocked by the scene going down last Saturday night (5/9). The male "bartender" (I use quotes because it's a skill) became progressively drunker as the evening wore on. We were there for several hours and the service went from bad (our first set of drinks, the aforementioned bloated, goateed whale of a bartender made us wait a good five minutes before he even approached us to take our order . And at that point, the bar had maybe two or three patrons, total.) to appalling. Here are some quotes from that time period.

Me: "Hey, can I get two shots and two beers?"

Bloated Goateed Whale, smirking: "I'm drunk. You guys will be lucky if you get drinks in the next hour."

Between dancing with female patrons and making slurred cracks about me, I quote, "F**king" my girlfriend" or being an alcoholic (I can't tell; he was so slurringly drunk, it was difficult to tell; either way the comment was totally inappropriate).

As a bar owner, my heart went out to the owners, who have such a douchy bozo working for them. The guy was the picture of unprofessionalism, using the place as his personal frathouse instead of someone else's source of livelihood. I've never seen anything like it and more than a few people waiting for twenty minutes or more for a drink were saying the same thing. A few just left in disgust and so did we, finally.
