Brooklyn >The Sanctuary Salon
“If you're looking for a nice, relaxing experience to go along with a fabulous style, then this is the place.”
“but to pay $70+ for a haircut and have such terrible service leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.”
“For African American women who need a great haircut in a no-attitude, serene, fabulous environment (the Dominican salon experience is a great value, but NOT relaxing), this is it.”
very professional. very professional staff, professional service... over all i rate 10 star !!! no less
I went to Sanctuary for the first time on Saturday, and I have to say that my highlights look great. Alexis did an excellent job and was very attentive to my color and made sure to give me what I wanted. I would recommend her.
My only issue with the salon is more with the management. I felt that they literally charged me for every little thing. I went there for a full set of highlights, so I was ready to spend a decent amount of money. The stylist walked me through a plan for what she was going to do with my color, and everything had an additional cost. It was extra because she was going to use two colors on my highlights, extra to put a conditioner on my hair, and even extra because as she was foiling she had to mix up some additional color. I understand that highlights are costly, but I've been to many salons, and never before have I been charged for literally every little thing (I couldn't believe I was charged more for the extra color mixing). I always get my hair blown out straight when I get it done, but I didn't here because if was going to cost more. I feel that these additions of $5-$10 dollars for different services, which are typically included in a highlight appointment in my experience, cheapened the experience for me. I understand that products cost money, but I think it makes the salon seem cheap when they point out the cost of each little thing.
As I was checking out, I was give some travel bottles of shampoo, which was a nice gesture, but at the same time, was told that they are each worth $5- perhaps they should not give away products and not charge $5 for a little extra hair color.
The Most Beautiful Salon In Brooklyn. Being that I just moved to brooklyn, I'm so lucky to have found Sanctuary. The staff is very professionl and sweet. Love Love Love my hair. There's nothing like Aveda products. Highly recommended.
Looking For Levi? Found Him!!!. Searching for Levi Peterson? The fabulous Master Stylist Levi Peterson is currently at Wayne Agassi's Salon located at 477 Bergen Street in Park Slope, Brooklyn. After recently re-locating from The Sanctuary Salon Levi has found his home at the beautiful and peaceful Wayne Agassi's Salon. Levi comes highly recommended and the new atmosphere is incredible.
Wonderful experience. I recently went to get my hair cut. It was a Sunday afternoon and I brought my baby along, hoping that she would take the usual 2 hour nap in the stroller. Well, she didn't even think about it. Luckily, the owner of the place, Andy, graciously offer to watch her while I was getting my (very good) hair cut. She was so incredibly sweet and helpful and I can't even believe that she hung out with my kid for like one hour. When I apologized, all she kept saying was that "somebody has to raise our kids." Isn't that amazing? Needless to say that I do not recommend repeating this experience, the Sanctuary Salon has a no-kids-under-age-seven policy, which makes a lot of sense given the layout and vibe of the spa. But I do think that someone that gracious deserves for her business to succeed. Which I am sure it will, it is by far the nicest salon I have been to in a long time. It's beautiful, comfortable, modern and professional. And contrary to most other places, they put great natural Aveda products on your skin and hair rather than silicone and mineral oils. Strongly recommended!!!
Searching for Anthony???.
Yes it's true! I have moved again. It's me Anthony--your grateful colorist. I am happy to announce that I am now working at Fabio Scalia Salon in Brooklyn Heights. I would like to thank you all for following me and being patient during the past few months. Luckily, I have found my new home. Hope to see you soon.

Levi's Aromatherapeutic Experience. Even better than the relaxing environment, the beautiful courtyard and the aromatherapy are Levi's expert scissors. I thought I loved my last stylist and the cuts he gave, until I went to Levi for the first time. He really knows how to shape the cut to your individual features and shape. I'm converted! Also like the Gentlemen's club. every sixth haircut is FREE!! What New Yorker doesn't like free? And don't get me started on the massage shampoos, so relaxing!
I loved my experience!. I had an appointment with Anthony for color & a cut from Levi. They both gave me the lots of tlc & listened to what I wanted! Anthony colored my hair a rich brown color with copper highlights showing through. The color instantly warmed up my face & brought out my freckles. Levi took his time to cut my hair & gave my hair a really beautiful shape that made my curls bounce!
Anthony's Amazing Highlights!!!. Anthony has been my colorist for a few years now, and he never disappoints. I just had my color done here recently--at his new salon about a week ago. I used to see him at Fez Salon, which was closer to home but now I have to trek a little farther to get to him. However, it is well worth it. My hair color is vibrant, shiny, and healthy. I love how my highlights are always subtle and methodically placed. Receiving compliments on my hair color is almost always a daily occurrence. I'm so glad I found him because I was getting very anxious when I heard he was no longer working at Fez Salon. I must admit I also enjoy having conversations with him--he's a great guy.
Thumbs down. After waiting an hour for my scheduled appointment I asked the hairdresser for a trim, half-inch at most. Four inches later my relatively long hair is now barely shoulder length. Because they were running behind on appointments they had their intern blow-out my hair. I'm terrible at drying my own hair but I could have done 5x better then this fellow. Hair grows back... but to pay $70+ for a haircut and have such terrible service leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. I will not go back to Sanctuary.
