In Short
Bussaco doesn't fit in neatly with its Park Slope neighbors: The Nerve daters at Tea Lounge next door and the aging hippies at the co-op are unlikely to get behind this grown-up restaurant. In his latest venture, chef Matthew Schaeffer has created a menu mixing his haute cuisine background at Le Bernardin (e.g. poached striped bass with manila clams) with more playful Brooklyn touches (e.g. a fried poussain with homemade waffles). Desserts are by the very fine dessert chef Deb Snyder, formerly of Alto, and the room is big, spare, quiet, and ideal for a laid-back dinner or glass of wine.

We've had several wonderful meals at Bussacco. The room is lovely, the people are friendly, and most important the food and wine are spectacular. I love the bar menu, which is affordable and delicious. The clam pizza is amazing! I highly recommend Bussacco, and will be going back.

Great restaurant! I am a Park Slope native, born and bred. I have seen sooooo many restaurants come and go. I am so happy such a caliber restaurant has opened. I am a huge fan of the places the chef & owner have worked at and am glad to see the influence on the food and service from these places, while maintaining their own identity. We had the shortrib, tortelloni, duck, bavette & some fish with manilla clams and herb broth. All were really great and the prices were so low that I hope people appreciate what they are getting for the price. Good Luck & congrats!

Just spent a week at a hotel on Union Street and went to Bussaco for dinner. Well, we went back every night. My God, is it wonderfu! We tried everything on the menu and Jared (the Sommlier) was so very helpful in pairing the wines with this excellent food. Way to go, Brooklyn.
