Good, but not worth a Friday night wait.... Food was really great -

The wait was absolutely ridiculous. Waited 1 hour, 45 minutes on a Friday night at 10pm, after being told it would be 45 minutes. The turnover here is super slow so I would say don't ever come on a weekend!

Food was great, very Williamsburg.. Didn't seem to be much far off menu wise from the other places in the area (Marlow & Sons, Dumont, Diner etc etc, which have better service IMO) We tried pretty much everything, no complaints, filet was really yummy. But with the service speed and wait times, I thought the hostess/staff could have at least comped us a drink. Also not very friendly.

Great food, lame service. The food at Walter is great, but the service is very absent-minded. My husband and I got there before our friend and were seated right away. The restaurant started filling up after that, so I appreciated that we were already seated even though our party was not complete.

We loved the atmosphere, it has an old-fashioned feel which immediately made me feel like we would be treated like ladies and gentlemen, and we were. The waiters wore white full-length aprons and white bow-ties. The host, however, was dressed like any old B-burg hipster, so he was kind of hard to distinguish as an employee instead of a guest.

We ordered cocktails while waiting for our friend. I had a delicious gin Gimlet made with fresh-squeezed lime juice. When our friend arrived, he ordered the GImlet as well, then we sat there for 15 minutes wondering where his drink was. Our waiter passed by our table multiple times without even looking at us; finally we had to say something to a different waiter, who immediately remedied the situation. Unfortunately, this happened again later in the meal.

The kitchen comped us a beet salad, so we felt the situation was addressed, but there was never an apology. Then, my entree came with fries instead of the salad I requested. When I pointed this out, the waiter said he would get a salad for me, but it never materialized. There were three waiters and the place wasn't that busy, so I don't understand why our waiter, though polite, was unapologetically forgetful.

We still really enjoyed the food. I started with some oysters, which were fresh and fantastic, then had the Lobster Club sandwich, which had plenty of tail meat and thick, smoky bacon. My husband had the squash soup and the fried chicken, and our friend had the Lollipop Chicken starter, basically a fancier version of buffalo wings, then the filet mignon, which was very tender and quite peppery.

We will go back, but we hope the service improves.
