Most Intimate Music Venue in NYC.
Amazing place. Major A-Level indie rock acts, the ones I can remember off-hand are: The Posies, AC Newman, Nada Surf, Okkervil River, Department of Eagles, The Wrens, Camera Obscura, Hood Internet DJs, St. Vincent and Tim Fite, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, French Kicks, Melissa Ferrick, The Thermals and a bunch more. Plus they do a bunch of huge events - Guac-tacular Invitational (Cinco de Mayo), Kentucky Derby Party, Blip Festival, (Beer) Flight Club, etc., etc. This is one of those places that keeps getting pushed out of NYC in place of condomania, but if it landed in your hood, you'd be pumped to have it. I love this spot and highly recommend it.

Citysearch Editorial Review.
Why should Williamsburg and Greenpoint have a music monopoly? Near the stinky Gowanus Canal, the Union Hall crew has turned a 1920s warehouse into an awe-worthy venue with 25-foot arched ceilings with exposed wood beams and ductwork mingling with Victorian wallpaper and upholstered furniture. At the standalone front bar (no ticket needed), drinkers can nip microbrews and rocker-themed cocktails like the tequila-packed White Light, White Heat. The chandelier-adorned main space is outfitted with a huge stage--not a bad view--and an additional bar.
