Tips for Cafe Remy

This past Friday evening around 10pm I went to this place with a group of 6 other friends. I had not changed from my work clothes and was wearing nice clothing with high leather boots with a 1 1/2 inch heel. They would not let me in because "I was not wearing HIGH HEELS!!!" When I explained to the lady outside that I have plantar fasciitis and am not able to wear heels she said that they would CHARGE ME MORE TO GO IN!!! This is absolute discrimination against people with a medical problem, wearing high heels vs not is not a real reason for refusing admittance to a paying customer. I live 2 blocks away and I will never spend one more cent at this place.

Went to this bar last night after my sister's bridal shower. We got there about 9:30pm and we were seated in the dancing area in the back. We bought lots of drinks and food. The dance floor was empty (except for us dancing occasionally). The DJ was horrible - he played one hip hope song, then a salsa song, then a reggae song and continued to rotate the music... so if you liked one type of music, you could only dance to one song at a time...it was weird. About 11 pm ( the place was still empty)...we were told we had to move because it was "club" time and we were at a table reserved for bottle service. we had a table full of food and drinks that we just ordered. We spoke to the manager (Jennifer) she was extremely rude! She began to talk and pump her hands in a fist to intimidate us to move. It was just unreasonable to ask us to move even though we had food and drinks and NO ONE WAS THERE YET! I would NEVER EVER go to this horrible place again. They have poor customer service. We were the only Black people there but I'm not sure if that was the reason we were treated so poorly.

Also, they told my uncle that he couldn't come in without a shirt with a collar but there were COUNTLESS other men of lighter complexion that had on T-shirts also.

The drinks were overpriced (12 for a martini ... that's expensive for Brooklyn...it was only 8 across the street) There was only one bartender working so out drinks took forever to come.

Again, Jennifer was RUDE and unprofessional, the music wasn't played well, the food was just OK..... I would NOT recommend this place to anyone!!

We ended up going across the street to AM bar and a better time and experience.

A great place.. For older patrons like my husband and I who just want a nice quiet place to talk and have dinner together on a weekday we were surprised that they have a jazz band on a Thursday, and the more people comes the louder the music gets. Well, so much for a nice quiet evening.

Anyway, we would still be coming back here and recommend this place. I just have to make sure not to come on Thursdays and weekends.

Excellent Food, Service and Ambiance!. I have been to Cafe Remy many times and each experience was great. The food is amazing. I've tried several dishes from the menu and have yet to find something I didn't like. My personal favorites are the crab cakes, salmon stuffed with crab meat and the pernil with arroz con gandules. The decor is beautiful and elegant and the waitress was very attentive and friendly. I went recently for Sunday brunch, and the food was really great and extremely affordable. Whether you're going on a date or just having a night out with friends, Cafe Remy is a great place for any occasion. I highly recommend it.

Amazing Food!!. I went to Cafe Remy on date about a month ago. Let me just say the food was excellent!! I highly recommend the rice with gandules and pernil yummy!! My date had salmon and that was excellent as well.. After dinner we hung out by the bar. The music was great and lets not forget all the cute guys! I was on a date so I had to behave. However the following week I went with my girls and once again the food was excellent!! We had so much fun we stayed until 4am. I will be celebrating my birthday at Cafe Remy in a few weeks, cant wait!!!

Worst place in Bayridge..ever. I was there 2 weeks ago, on Saturday, valet my car $10 which is too high for the area, went there for not even 10 minutes, I paid $10 cover and left to find I got a parking ticket while my car keys were with the valet guy..Go Figure! Will never go back there and won't recommend it. There are so many better places in bayridge.

Excellent Spanish menu. Great place to eat. Food excellent. My first time and we ate from the Spanish menu, everything was good. Service was very good, waitress very attentive to our needs and requests. The manager came over to make sure everyting was O which it was. There were four of us and we each had a different meal. We shared and had no conplaints. Going back as soon as we can.

Never Disappointing. We have had many Sunday brunches at Cafe Remy, and promised ourselves that we would come back for drinks at their magnificent bar (originally from the famous Luchows).

The new owner has updated the place, and it looks beautiful and at the same time comfortably casual. Last evening we drove there for drinks and dinner. We had our drinks at the bar (they have a great 'happy hour' that we didn't know about until we got there) until our dinner reservation time. The bartender was friendly and generous, and we enjoyed the experience.

We were seated just as the band was coming on. The music was great, familiar, and, happily, not too loud. The waitress was very attentive and helpful. Both the crabcake appetizer and stuffed salmon entree were delicious. The menu is large and varied, and would seem to appeal to every taste. The owner came to our table several times to say hello and to thank us for coming.

Without a doubt I recommend Cafe Remy for Sunday brunch, as well as dinner and drinks. This was just a regular Friday night dinner, but at Remy it seemed like a special occasion. I don't know of another neighborhood restaurant where you can get the same quality of food, drink, service and entertainment at such a reasonable price.
