One of the Best Days of my Life
by jessguy
This was my first massage ever, which Rachel found, "exciting". I booked an appointment via email the day before because my back pain was becoming unbearable. The space was very tidy and homey and I felt immediately at ease. I always worried about how exactly the undressing for the massage would go but here it was done in a way that I felt perfectly normal getting ready. I also made my own playlist on my ipod and Rachel didn't make me feel silly at all for having done so. I really wanted as much information as possible about the state of my muscles, things I was doing wrong, things I could do right, etc and I got all the answers I was looking for. The massage itself was great, but even better was finding out how much damage I had been doing unknowingly. I went in for my back pain, but found that the muscles in my hips and arms are just as strained, only I won't begin to feel that pain until I'm in my 40s or 50s. It was such an eye-opening experience I am changing my lifestyle. I realized just how much I've been neglecting myself internally. She worked through my problem areas and then spent extra time teaching me stretches I can do and even emailed me a video of them so I won't forget. When I walked out the door, I felt high (read: amazing) and inspired. Best thing I could have spent my money on. Rachel is very, very skilled and I would recommend that everyone go to her.
- Pros: informative, comfortable, affordable
- Cons: none
Outstanding Massage in Williamsburg
by healthyseven
Rachel exudes the kind of professional confidence that puts one at ease before the massage even begins. Her massage is seamless and relaxing, and she clearly has an intuitive sense of which muscle groups need the most work. I went in with my typical neck and hip tension, and Rachel methodically released each muscle group involved. She also showed me how to do a stretch that targets the precise area on my back that tends to tighten up. Rachel and Massage Williamsburg are a real asset to the neighborhood.
- Pros: table warmer, quiet, serene space
- Cons: have only pros to report
Great Shiatsu Massage
by strubelig
Rachel is one of those lucid and luminescent people who must have been doing yoga since the age of three. I felt extremely comfortable in her presence, and she impressed me as a very knowledgeable and skilled practitioner. What impressed me most of all, however, was her lack of insistence that I needed to come back regularly for an indefinite length of time. This is a nice change from the physical therapists I've seen in the past, who made a big to-do about what a mess I was and how I needed to come weekly for the next year. "Do the stretches I showed you," she said cheerily, "and you won't have to come back as often." This selflessness is the hallmark of a real healer.
