What People Are Saying About The Clover Club

An offspring of Manhattan's Flatiron Lounge, Clover Club harkens back to a calmer, more genteel era, serving a curated list of 30 classic cocktails like the Bramble and Jersey Julep. A hostess corrals well-heeled locals into tables, booths and a back room, leaving the large mahogany bar and surrounding area to absorb the overflow. Try the Clover Club ($10), the namesake cocktail that started it all; it's made from a frothy mix of gin, dry vermouth, lemon and housemade raspberry syrup.
Incredibly rude staff!

I was in this the Clover Club and spent over $400 dollars in drinks and food with my wife and friends after work. We stayed in this establishment for a long time. We were eating and drinking and having a great time with each other. When we were ready to go, a suggestion for one final round was suggested by my wife(guess she didnt want the night to end). My wife proceeded to ask for another round. Only the waitress she ordered from was not our waitress. This waitress proceeded to call us LOUD DRUNKS, and refused to serve us. Dont get me wrong, I have been apart of the LOUD DRUNKEN BAR CREW a few times in my life...this was not one of those times. I CALMLY asked to speak with the manager. A short girl with a british accent came upstairs to the main floor from the office in the basement. We walked towards each other, I said hello, and she did the same. At this point I made sure to be nothing short of a gentleman. I softley asked her why we were being denied another round after we spent somuch money in there establishment, and I also asked why were disrespectfully called loud drunks. She started stuttering, and could not give me a reasonable answer due to the fact that it was very obvious that we were not outrageously drunk. Mind you, we were having a very calm and curteous conversation(IM sure she would agree.) All of a sudden, the tall, shaved head, caucasian male bar tender, jumped from behind the bar and attempted to escalate the the situation by standing beside me and yelling to the side of my face. I never broke eye contact with the manager because I wanted her to see how we were being treated wrong. The bartender then proceeded to challenge my friend and me to a fight. We are decent, intelligent men, so his pointless offer was declined. Nonetheless, this whole situation was uncalled for, and we were treated very poorly in this establishment. If we were in the wrong, I would never write this, but we werent, and this place's wait staff is very arrogant, young, uninformed, and VEY VERY RUDE!! Take your money to another place, and have a good time. This place doesnt represent Brooklyn at all.
- Pros: I cant say there are
- Cons: The wait staff is very rude
Best Brunch

My husband and I stumbled on this place when looking for a brunch spot to celebrate our first year wedding anniversary. Of course we were looking for something special and we definitely found it here. The space is modern and cozy. In the back is a nice lounge area with a fireplace and comfy chairs, there is also a separate bar there. The front eating area is just as comfy. The bar menu offers a nice history of the drinks. Our bloody mary was delicious (I only wish they served more olives in it). We were pleasantly surprised by the food, it was outstanding! We had the baked eggs with truffle and leeks and each bite kept getting better. It was well worth the $10. The staff is also friendly and attentive. Water glasses are constantly filled without being asked. We've been here twice already and have even brought friends who loved it too. We'll definitely be going back.
- Pros: Food, drinks, and service
- Cons: That I can't eat here everyday
pretentious? did you look that up first?

i think the most annoyingly overused word of late is "pretentious". it seems that anything that people find to be expensive is now termed pretentious.
now, the clover club is definitely not cheap. if you want cheap, there is no shortage of dive bars in the area. but this place is most certainly NOT pretentious. their extensive drink menu offers descriptions as well as histories of the spirits used. the staff is friendly and patient (ive been here in a party of 2 and a party of 7), and happy to make a drink recommendation based on your taste. typically a specialty drink bar such as this caters only to connoisseurs, but even beginners can feel comfortable here. far from pretentious.
ignore the haters. this place is well worth your money.
p.s.- almost forgot to mention the food. we had steak on toast, chicken wings, mac & chz, crostini, and oysters. every single one was brilliant. i couldn't even pick a favorite.
- Pros: drinks, food, staff, decor...
- Cons: gets a bit crowded
