What People Are Saying About IKEA

In Short – Hopen, Malm, Aneboda-no, those are not suggestions to name your pet, but the Swedish names of IKEA's designer furnishings and decorative odds and ends. Created with a "one-way" layout in mind, shoppers weave through a labyrinth of seemingly endless showrooms stocked with equipment to creatively accessorize every room under the sun. With patrons ranging from groups of freshmen students looking to outfit their tiny dorms to entire families, the store offers a huge repertory of styles, patterns and colors for every unique taste
Editor's Tips
- The Extras:
- Speaking of good taste, the small restaurant serves up traditional Swedish fare like meatballs, plus chicken marsala, shrimp sandwiches and kids' meals.
- Know Before You Go:
- Before you brag about your "designer decor" at home, know that the low prices do have a catch---all furnishing are designed to be assembled by the consumer.

NASTY , BAD Customer relationship and staffs
by nyctotem at Citysearch
One time the security counted the items I purchased wrong on my way out. She made me look like a theft. NASTY attitude. After another security came and re-count the Items again and knew she made a mistake, She never apologized for it . I contacted IKEA customer services.. They never apologized for the mistake the security made and followed up with me either. just a terrible experience with them,, NASTY staff.. bad customer services in Brooklyn IKEA
Great Experience!!

My husband and I were trying to decide if we should go to the Brooklyn or New Jersey Ikea. We noticed a lot more bad reviews for the Brooklyn Ikea compared to the Elizabeth, New Jersey location (where we have been before). Well, we decided on the Brooklyn location.
We made the right decision. We had a great time!!!
The ferry ride was fun, comfortable and not crowded. We also had a really yummy, amazingly affordable meal.
But we owe thanks to the woman at check out. We bought a large table and were going to pay for delivery, which would cost us $79.00 (more than double the price of the table) She recommended alternatives to save money, and told us that we could get a car service home instead (there are always cabs waiting at the store exit).
We did that and sure enough, for $24.00 we got door to door service. It was easy, fun and affordable shopping.
No Doubt THE Worst Customer Service

We have been talking about renovating our kitchen for some time now. After looking at all the options and being rather handy, We decided to go with the self assembly kichen from IKEA, We liked the look of the finished kitchens so much we decided to purchase the bathroom there as well, Including all the IKEA appliances our order was over 7,000 Dollars.
They offer delivery so we opted to pay the additional fee for delivery. It was to arrive Friday a week from purchase. IKEA failed to inform the delivery company so the kitchen arrived on Monday instead. Back to IKEA we go as the first proble arrives. (right Bathroom vanity box, but not the correct product inside), Take a number and someone rude will be with you in a few hours. (We didn't realize the return volume when we were ordering)
so we getback and start again, problem 2 (used cabinet with holes drilled in it and missing pieces) Back to IKEA, take a number and someone rude will be with you in a few hours. (Now this could be worse , there were people from upstate that were on there 4th return) We start our kitchen again OOPS wrong color cabinet, (back to IKE, take a number someone rude who sucks their teeth at you will be with you in a few hours.) So we opted to skip this cabinet because they don't have the right color in stock, and we have been without a kitchen for 3 weeks. Back to the kitchen work, one side done but one drawer front, oops wrong color.
(all kitchen doors must be shipped they told us originaly, So we called, the girl asks the same question 3 times, Then sarcasticly says "let me make this easy for YOU, What items did you PAY for?) Almost breathing fire at this point , We PAID 7000 dollars to be treated like crap from 90 % of your employees, We payed for a drawer fron that is not in the shipment and we have a drawer front that is not listed on the invoice. How much clearer can I make it for YOU? We will ship that out to you in 3 business days....Great. So, we start the other side, find out we are missing the hardware to hang the cabinets, Back to IKEA, (Now we live in Manhattan and IKEA is in Brooklyn, So crowded streets tunnel, snow, tolls, this is NOT fun.) Take a number and someone rude will be with you in a few hours.
After they finally call #328 we get to the desk she says, Oh, We don't have those in stock so they will need to be delivered to you in 3 days. At that point I asked for then to send the truck to pick up the 7000 dollar kitchen because I was done. She magically appeared with the bag of hardware. and the correct drawer front, I would imagine I will still need to go back becase I am only half way done. The sales people give you attitude , the service team gives you attitude, the warehouse sends crappy used products, and I will never buy anything from there that I cannot open the box before I leave the store.
Great furniture, even better food!!

The Ikea in Brooklyn is a great place to get all your furniture needs. While the furniture was the main attraction, The food was the icing on the cake. While the selection wasn't huge, the quality was on point. The prices is what makes this a winner as you can get an entire meal for around $5 with unlimited refills on the drinks. Enough about the food, the showroom showed so many styles and different options that can fit your needs. What makes Ikea great is that they actually present their products as it were their own place.
i love ikea, but the staff? wooo

I hate going all the way out to NJ just to get to an Ikea, so it's nice to have one close. HOWever, that being said...the staff all needs to be fired. This place is SO poorly run, heaven help you if you need furniture delivered or you have to make a return! Bring a picnic lunch, you'll be there ALL NIGHT! I hope someone from the management there reads these reviews because their employees are really killing the place and losing them sales.
- Pros: I don't have to go all the way out to NJ
- Cons: The HORRIBLE cashiers
