anima. I am italian with heart and soul , the one thing anima lacks is ANIMA in the kitchen..(SOUL) they seem to care more about what it looks like . THE FOOD IS REALLY BAD...staff is cool . i guess when you get a mexican to cook italian food..thats what happens.

It simply doesnt taste like what you would expect...i've eaten at anima 4 times hoping that the next time will be better.. i hope they get it together. maybe then i will be back............................................................

Great food, great people and wonderful atmosphere. A great little find - friendly and warm waiters who care about their customers, a cosy romantic atmosphere and tiramisu to die for! Their hangar steak is fab, I go for it every time and they have a lovely selection of wines. Great for dates, get-togethers or if you just need to unwind with some good food and a warm atmosphere.

What a great find and surprise. I stopped in here with some friends out of the blue and had a fabulous experience. Great venue and wonderful staff were topped by a really great impromptu dining decision. I'll definitely return here. True Italian fare cooked with real heart and soul. Something I seldom do, but I made a mental note to write a review as I was so happy - Try it.

Dissapointing. This restaurant had a lot going for it. Great location, nice atmosphere, and a great waiters. However the food didn't deliver. After a decent but easily made appetizer (prosciutto w/ melon/asparagus/mozzarella), the main dishes lacked that tradition Italian sentiment and seemed to pursue presentation over quality and taste. The lasagna was small in portion and, although looking exquisite, tasted somewhat bland. A decent portion would have made up for this but the size was smaller than one serving at a family picnic. Italian food is called comfort food for a reason. You get all full and comfortable. The sausage trio dish was really greasy, again opting for presentation over quality. It was served in three spiral sections instead of links, which, although looked nice, retained the grease in the grooves. On top of that the lamb sausage was alright, chicken sausage boring(at least spice it up or something!) and worst of all the Italian sweet sausage was bland as hell. I consider it a sin when the sausage topping on a pizza slice has more flavor than a main dish. The dish was going for a trendy three on three idea, with potatoes three different ways as a bed for the three types of sausages. But in the end I would have preffered a sausage and peppers from a grease truck any day. The prices were very reasonable and the service was fine, but I came for good Italian food, and left disappointed.

Very friendly and cozy, amazing food. What a great find in the neighborhood! As a ten year resident of the area, I have yet to find many places of this caliber in our area for Italian food. The menu has a wonderful variety of choices and the prices are quite reasonable. My roommate and I eat in similar restaurants in the Village quite often and were pleasantly surprised at the bill when we finished. The wine was lovely, the service was exceptionally friendly and accomodating, and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Was spacious and the open face of the restaurant on a gorgeous evening was delightful. I will definitly visit again.

phhht. a let down i thought. I have heard good things but i was totally disappointed. our server was totally confused brought out the wrong dishes, my food was raw, ew.. the wine was eh.. the inside is beautiful and spacious but the food and service just doesn't deliver. There are so many better spots in the hood.

Great cuisine and decor!. My boyfriend and I had dinner at Anima not too long ago.. I was a little nervous because I let him pick the spot so when he said he knew of a new place near our apartment in Brooklyn, I took a deep breath and got in the car. What a find! The service was great and our food was wonderful! They have a romantic, rustic feel to the place. Totally not what I expected in Fort Greene! And though we didn't eat out in the garden area, it looked very pretty. I have to say my boyfriend did VERY well in finding this restaurant and I'm sure we'll be back!
