good coffee, but has some major flaws. i stop by rabbit hole on my way to work nearly every morning, in part because i love their coffee - the iced coffee in particular is a real treat, and far superior to that of oslo coffee down the block. the atmosphere of the place is mellow, and on the handful of occasions i've had a proper meal there, i've always enjoyed myself.

however, rabbit hole is making mistakes that, a year into their existence, are really rather inexcusable. i can't count the number of times that they've botched simple orders to go - order, say, a toasted bagel with cream cheeese, and what you get in the bag could be just about anything. the other day, for example, i ordered a bagel with butter and got, after a twenty minute wait, a bagel. just that - a plain bagel, cut in half, with nothing on it whatsoever. this is hardly the first time that type of thing has happened. not such a big deal for people who are eating in, but as a "to-go" place i'm surprised by how slow and inefficient they can be.

the staff is reasonably friendly, but something is getting lost in translation between the cash register and the kitchen... until this gets fixed, i think i'm going to have to switch to another place where the coffee isn't as good.

Editorial Review by Melanie Berliet. Dine at the cafe and head downstairs to the basement for dessert at this combination restaurant/bakery in Williamsburg.
