What a find!. As the weather got nice, on a walk we stumbled into this hidden gem! Let me just say the food was fantastic - fresh ingredients, well prepared while allowing the natural flavors of the ingredients to shine. The result was simply delicious favors! Really enjoyed this place.

It's also run by the chef owners, which always adds such a nice intimate feel to a restaurant.

Go for a romantic dinner, or with friends. But take your time and enjoy! This place isn't for the rushed. Stay for the desert and a cappuccino...

Classy Comfort in Globe-Trotting Brooklyn Bistro. In the up-and-coming trendy neighborhood of Fort Greene, Brooklyn, sits a friendly, modern pastel-hued bistro. Just five stops from Manhattan on C train, a 'round the world experience awaits at the upscale yet accessible Autour du Monde ("around the world") restaurant and bar.

Just two and half years old, the well-touted neighborhood favorite offers a continental menu, (leaning heavily on French and European with splashes of Asian) at reasonable and well-ranged prices (entrees from $13-$22). The full bar and the rest of the white linened restaurant is dimly lit with modern light fixtures making for a refined and stylish dining experience.

Autour’s red brick façade touts a nostalgic striped canopy, large bright windows, and an unbeatable $26 three-course daily prix fixe dinner menu, changing seasonally and prepared in the same tasteful, not overly seasoned manner as the main menu.

The medium-sized, 60-seat restaurant features two modern rooms (muted yellow in main room with full bar; and a pastel purple back room--great for parties or intimidate dining). The formal table cloths covered in brown paper sheets give the family-owned joint a very organic feel. Autour also features as many organic or natural ingredients as it can, with all baking done on premises.

The dinner-only menu (the place is not open for lunch) features 8 appetizers (soups, crispy veggie or cod cakes), 11 entrees (organic burgers, lamb shank, duck, risotto), and 6 desserts (crème brûlée, chocolate cake, fruit tarts). The decadent endings – like the light, tangy mascarpone passion fruit cheesecake with almond crust – all teeter between $7 and $8, and with espresso and cappuccino, you can sit until closing at 10:30, 11.

An all-weekend brunch menu, served from 10:30am - 4pm, offers staples like steak and eggs, croque monsieur (grilled ham and cheese sandwich), classic whole wheat pancakes with seasonal fruit and egg dishes.



Business is hardly as robust as the trendy bistro owners on Fulton St. may like, so if you’re looking for an intimate and palette-pleasing dining experience, hit the globe-trotting Autour du Monde. Ask for Olivier, the mastermind behind the place. Tell ‘im I sent you.

DON'T MISS THIS ONE!!!. My boyfriend and I live around the corner from here and kept meaning to go but never really got around to it. Last night we finally did and it was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a LONG time. The owners are also the waiters and bartenders... and they're amazing in every way. The food was DELICIOUS. The duck was absolutely perfect and they have vegetarian options too. I plan on going back in the very near future and this is ABSOLUTELY a place people need to try. You'll be so glad you did!!! PS - they have $24 three course prix fixe every day. You can't go wrong.

My New Favorite!. if you're willing to take the trek off the beaten path (a bit further down Fulton St than I usually venture) you will be greatly rewarded! this family owned local gem has soome of the nicest French/Continental fare I've tasted in NY - EVER! The menu was well thought out and offered a variety that ranged from the casual burger to the more sophisticated cheeses and meats. I loved this place.

best restaurant in Fort Green. I love Autour du Monde!!! Wonderful addition to the fast changing area. I dont know why its not jammed packed every night because this is by far, the best restaurant in the area. The owners/servers/bartenders are simply amazing. Warm friendly atmosphere. The place is grand! Fabulous room for large parties. Wine list is simple and affordable. The food is certified organic and everything is made from scratch. Can it get better than that? I was there again for brunch yesterday. I had the best Croque Monsieur ever! It was delicious...so delicious in fact that i even considered ordering a second one!!! Loving the international concept! Im planning a large dinner party there for a friend's birthday and i cant wait. The owners have wonderful music selection and theres a possibility to rent a very large portion of the restaurant for parties.
