In Short – Founded in 1901 in Chicago by Charles R. Walgreen Sr., this neighborhood pharmacy has grown to be one of the nation's largest drugstore chains. Each store carries 25,000 different items--from cleaning products to electronics and greeting cards. Store features include a computerized system connecting pharmacies nationwide via satellite, grocery-store food aisles, one-hour photofinishing and an automated phone system for prescription refills and pre-arranged pickup times. Other services include in-store flu shots and childhood immunizations.

Good Prices, Good Pharmacy

This store has a good selection overall and quite a few inexpensive store brands. The pharmacy is great- they're very polite and helpful, even when the insurance company is being difficult, and have always had my prescriptions ready on time. They've even helped me save money before by telling me when the retail price of a prescription is less than my insurance copay. This is also one of the few stores in the neighborhood that's open late, so it's convenient.
The only strange thing is that as a security measure, a few odd things are locked up even though they're not expensive (gum? disposable razors? really??) so you have to get a staff member to unlock them for you.
