What People Are Saying About Hecho En Dumbo

The Scene – The interior looks exactly as a Dumbo restaurant should--with high ceilings, exposed duct-work and long farmhouse tables that somehow look modern--and nothing like a Mexican restaurant. The lofty feel doesn't affect the restaurant's warmth: Drinkers and diners won't feel rushed in the instantly cozy space, especially not by the friendly but sometimes absent staff. – – The Food – The menu is based around antojitos, or little cravings. Excepting the shockingly rich cheese dip and a few appetizers (the deliciously tart citrus cabbage salad is a must-order)…

A fun place to go, cheap food thats pretty good. Biggest cons are the over priced drinks and absent waitstaff.

The Details on Hecho En Dumbo
Know Before You Go:
The restaurant is located in the Dumbo General Store and is a panini spot during lunch; plus, there's a design shop in the back.
When to Go:
Since you can't make reservations, showing up on the early side of 7pm will go a long way in ensuring you get seated quickly.
What to Drink:
The same attention paid to the food is paid to the cocktails. Try the Paloma ($10), a margarita in which grapefruit soda adds a refreshing twist, or, if you really like to pucker, there's the Michelade ($6), a Mexican beer served over a generous portion of chilled lime juice and ice with a salted rim.
