“Great service.”
A wonderful evening.
I signed up just to write this review because I had such a wonderful experience here.
The atmosphere is beautiful. Romantic brick walls, gentle lighting and wine bottles galore along the walls, with such genuine warmth from everyone -- the bartender, the waiter, etc.
The meal was outstanding. My boyfriend had the special, which was pork so incredibly tender it fell from the bone. It was juicy and with such a full flavor, I can taste it still the next day. I had the sole special, which was a lighter touch but just as delicious. I can't wait to go back for some dishes with vodka sauce. The wine list has great variety -- you can't miss.
We went for just a regular dinner but the setting and great vibe from everyone made it feel like a speical occasion.
The staff were so welcoming and friendly that I would love to be a regular customer here. It is a bit pricey for going constantly, but as another review stated, not anything unusual for NYC.
It certainly has a romantic glow, so it's a good place for dates, but also with a comforting enough feel that you'd be welcome there as a group as well.
Perfect in all respects, a beautiful evening awaits.
I have been to Il Torchio at least 5 times. I cannot say enough good things about the restaurant. The first reviewer seems to have had a bad experience, and I'm surprised that happened, all the staff there including the chef are extremely nice, friendly and funny. They just expanded into the building next door so there is plenty of space there now, although I still prefer the original half of the restaurant with the bar.
Great wine selection, great food. The specials are always delicious.
Cool place to hang out, great place for romantic dates. Atmosphere cannot be beat, beautifully designed place.
Only downside is that it is a little pricey, but not pricey by NY standards.
Great service... if you are willing to pay for it. The food was good. The tapas were fun and tasty. The service was great... until I was asked to leave. That's right! My friend and I were eating tapas and drinking wine when we began to feel rushed. My friend asked, "Do you need us to leave? Do you need this table?" The waiter told us he needed the table in about ten minutes. I was not happy. Were not going to have a super-pricey bill, but come on. We wanted dessert! The bill came to over $65.00. There was not a wait and there were actually two open tables. Even in packed restaurants, I have NEVER been asked to leave. That is unacceptable service!
Editorial Review. Clinton Hill gets an Italian boost with this spot serving pastas, small plates and panini.
