Exotic Colombian Tapas, Excellent South American Wines and Beers, Cute Guys.... I visited this place the other night and I though it was F-A-G-U-L-O-U-S!! I went with a group of 4 gay friends who came from Chelsea to see the new luxury Condos around the corner (yes! they dared to venture into no man?s land..hehe). Food took some time to arrive but that is normal because each tapa is prepared separately so an order of 10 is like ordering 10 different plates (anyone who has visited Caracas Arepas in the city, knows this!). Anyway, nobody seemed to mind the wait because we were sipping this amazing white tropical sangria and excellent South American wines. When food arrived, everything was so fresh, tasty and filling. We didn?t know Colombian tapas even existed and that they could be so yummy. The service was very attentive [nice eye-candy too =) ], and the decor was Manhattan cool? What it?s NOT Manhattan-like is the prices which are a steal just at $5 per tapa and $6-$8 per glass of wine or sangria (I hope it stays that way)?.We all had a great time and my friends now have one more reason to move to GayPoint.

Horrible Arepas in Greenpoint. this place is horrible. We just had the worst experience at Cafecito Bogata!!!! Terible slooooooowww service, unapologetic waiter, cold arepas with bland (and day old) toppings on some. It took over an hour for our food to arrive and there was only one other couple seated for dinner. The server made no apologies even though he clearly was aware that there was a problem with both food and service. The place looks nice and is comfortable but given that the food was overpriced for what it was and not even tasty, I would rather stay home and cook or better yet get the Arepas from Mamalu's. If you want Arepas head to Jackson Heights, save your money and your time. If an establishment is going to revamp it's style, the food and service need to come along with it.

Arepas, local artwork and mint lemonade provide Greenpoint with a taste of Columbian cafe culture.. In keeping with its Columbian roots, this charming cafe's takeout menu translates the word Greenpoint into its Spanish equivalent, Puntaverde. Bright yellow walls, local artwork and couches set a festive scene for consuming iced cafe con leche and sampling the arepas--the Alimbar packs ham, queso blanco and guava, while the Medellin appeases vegetarians with cranberry beans and green plantains. Seven kinds of salads and sandwiches made with Petrossian bread provide further fuel for bopping along to DJ-provided beats.
