“The lude, poor excuses for people mentioned in the previous review are what we in the unpretentious world like to call "people having fun.”
“Perfect beer.”
“Then he in a puff said, "Does the meat offend you?”
“They have a great selection of beers (mostly German and Belgian, but what else do you want), I had a great Tripel Karmeliet.”
“great place to go at night in Brooklyn.”

“Very simple menu, with very reasonable prices.”
“The Sunday brunch included a peach bellini, which the eater decided she wanted and it took at least 15 minutes to catch the waitresses eye to have her come over to order the drink.”

So maybe Radegast is a deafening dudefest on most evenings. Why not try brunch here with a big group of friends at a long beer table? Breakfasts are yummy 2-hour affairs of blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes, eggs en cocotte, fruity mascarpone toast drippled with pomegranate maple syrup, potato pancakes, and framboise lambic.

Brooklyn's best biergarten. High ceilings, exposed brick, an airy feel. It's loud, the beer flows freely, and the sausages from the back grill are great, especially a venison version.
This immense Brooklyn beer hall echoes its sisters in Astoria, Munich and Prague: that is to say, it's very big, very fun, and serves a lot of very good beer and sausages.
What a great time, feels like your in Europe.. I went here this past weekend and was so happ that I did. The scene was crazy! Giant beers glanging off one another. It was just so much fun. The place was packed and everyonr was friendly. Great wheat beer and great crowd. It was like a huge party and it almost felt like we were outside. I guess we will have to wait til the summer to actually drink outside. I heard the roof retracts! Anyway, the picture does no justice thois place needs to be seen!!!!
Ordering offends bartender.
Beware that placing your order may offend one of the bartenders there. So much so that he may call you names that include "vegetarian c*nt."
My friend ordered the wiener schnitzel and asked for the mashed potatoes to be on the side (I was going to share). Bartender said, no problem. So then the dish comes and of course, the wiener schnitzel is covering the mashed potatoes. So my friend reminded the bartender that she had asked for the mashed potatoes to be on the side. Then he in a puff said, "Does the meat offend you? Fine, I'll get you a side of them." I then came in and said, "No, don't worry about it. It's fine. It's not a big deal." Then he still went and got a side.
So we finish eating, and then my friend asks for a Jack and Diet Coke. Then we see the bartender pouring her Maker's Mark. And so when he drops it off, she tells him she asked for Jack Daniel's. He angrily says, "We don't have Jack. This is the same." And then she said no that she didn't like Maker's Mark and that it tastes different. Once again, the bartender berated her. She then said she didn't want it and asked for a glass of Riesling. Then he really started berating her saying, "Are you sure?! Are you completely sure?! Do you want to taste it first?! Because I want you to be totally sure." Then she responded by saying, "I've been sure about everything. I've never changed my order. You have brought me what I didn't order." Then he pretty much started yelling at her, and then that's when I stepped in and said, "No! Nevermind. Don't get us anything any more!"
After that, I asked to get for the tab, and also let him know he was very rude. And at this he screamed, "No! You are rude! I've never in 20 years had customers like you two! He then continued to yell at us, and finally I stopped it by saying, "Wow. You're a d*ck." Then he screamed, "No! You're a c*nt!" So then I said, "ha. That's fine." Then he screamed, "A VEGETARIAN C*NT!" And with that, I paid my bill and walked out.
cute...but dirty!.
This place has everything to be a good addition to Wlmbg. The garden is nice, the beer selection is vast, but... it's DIRTY! I'm not talking about sticky tables and chairs, I'm talking about rodents climbing the walls while the place is packed on a Saturday evening! YES, you heard taht right. If these rodents are so audacious to come out and play with the crowd, I don't want to know what goes on in the kitchen!
I am deceived... we were so looking forward to a nice winter/summer bar...
Good Time. First if you want to sit in the restaurant part, they don't take reservations-thats cool, but they don't take your name for a table-it's every man for themselves, which could get a little crazy.Basically you have to hover over people who are finishing up.We went at 9pm on a saturday,I wouldn't recommend that. The food is pretty good. The beer is also pretty good. The garden serves grilled food and has communal tables with a good crowd. The music isn't all that, but the bar scene is pretty lively. It's expensive, beers are like $7,burgers at the grill like $10, but it's a cool spot.
Brooklyn beer lovers rejoice at this Old World beer hall with the best German suds and wurst bites..
In Short
Time-travel to 19th-century Europe at this sprawling Austro-Hungarian beer hall, outfitted with soaring ceilings, iron chandeliers, beer-barrel trash cans and a massive heated beer garden. Conforming to the Alpine peasant cliche, barmaids clad in dirndl dresses serve up 12 European drafts, while blouse-wearing waitresses flit across the concrete floor to massive communal tables fashioned from 150-year-old barn wood. Artists and trendy Billyburgers order sobriety-quashing mugs of dark Weihenstephaner Dunkel Weisse and sparkling Pilsner Urquel, which are clinked loudly and lustily long into the night.
Hits: Need a space for 25 of your closet comrades? Arrive early, and you can hijack a candle-topped wooden table nearly as long as most railroad apartments.
Misses: If you like lots of beer, then you better like opening your wallet wide--a liter of draft brew runs an eye-popping $13, while bottles average $7 or $8.
The Carpathians have moved to Williamsburg, beer and all..
I'm too tired and sated to do this place justice just now (after all, I've just been to Radegast!), but, in short:
Going to Radegast is like taking a vacation in Eastern Europe, without having to leave my neighborhood. It's gorgeous and overflowing with Gemutlichkeit (Google it!). The owner, Ivan, introduced himself to me in a most delightful way; dispensing with the usual pleasantries (what's in a name?), he instead shoved a hunk of sausage in my mouth. A week later, we had our first conversation and exchanged names. As an heterosexual man, this was new for me, but I liked it!
The music is great. They almost always play something Balkan. It doesn't have the crazed, sweaty, meat-market-on-slivovitz energy of Bulgarian Bar, but, for an old man like me, that's just swell.
The beer is not inexpensive, but it's good beer, and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than a plane ticket.
Awful Experience!.
The bar is overdone. Prices are very high, service is (there is a service??!!) terrible and slow, grill is o.k. I didn't have a chance to taste regular menu. Very unfriendly owner( or least one). and so many people. I can't believe it people wants to pay $7 for pint...CRAZY.
Well if you like to wait 20-30 min for beer then it's a perfect place for you. If you have extra cash go spend it!
Recommend to go once and thats about it.!
Great Atomsphere! Okay Food & Service ....
This place just opened so I understand they have some work to do. The atomsphere and physical setting is one of the best in the city. It does have a very authentic German/Austrian beer hall feel to it. They have a good beer selection although for 14$ a liter they only filled it up about 3/4 full. I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the food. I had the rabbit and it was so so. A friend had the pork, but it was on the smaller side. The service started out decent but it became very hard to get another round of drinks after dinner. Overall I had a good time and would recommend you give it a try. I just hope they work out some of the kinks as they get going.
PS. One thing that was very strange was the background music. I recommend they consider changing it because it had a dark depressed feel to it.
A great experience all around. Brooklyn waited over a hundred years in order to get its first Beer Garden, and it was well worth the wait. A different kind of place from beginning to the end. Located in a very trendy part of Williamsburg, decorated to resemble a beer garden from the 1800, with an amazing array of different beers from all over, and the most spectacular garden you can imagine. Food was superb to say the list. Very simple menu, with very reasonable prices. The place was packed, but I guess that was to be expected.
