The 16 beers on tap and two cask ales come from breweries across the country, but this cozy pub is geared toward those who left their hearts in San Francisco--or in nearby Berkeley. In the front room, ornate antique mirrors hang alongside framed Chez Panisse posters and California license plates. Past the long oak bar and exposed brick walls, an expansive back room wears bold Cal colors--blue walls and yellow ceilings--and West Coast sports teams dominate a large projection screen, flanked by two well stocked bookshelves.
Hits: A descriptive menu lists each beer's ABV (alcohol by volume) percentage, there's a large selection of hard-to-find pints, and Californians can root for their home teams with fellow West Coast fans.
Misses: This isn't a prime spot for New York sports fans--when the A's or Padres are playing, Mets and Yankee fans may feel seriously displaced.

If you love the wit and humor Californians Adam & Jamie bring to the Discovery Channel Pacific Standard is the bar for you! John & Jon have the same brilliant creativity and genius for funny. Be sure to taste the beer and enjoy the digs, but the true gems in this joint are the owners! Check out their unique bar, you won't be disappointed.

We wanted to watch Pac-10 football with other fans and found a great new spot in Brooklyn called Pacific Standard, run by two alumni from Berkeley. If you like good microbrews, this is the place. The dimly-lit backroom has unstylish couches for lounging in front of a large screen tv. You feel like you're in someone's family room. It's okay to bring in your own food. We met people from the far reaches of Manhattan. We'll definitely be going back to try out their new brews and watch more games.
