In Short – Every neighborhood should have a friendly Irish pub, and this one in Fort Greene tosses in a bevy of American bar food to round out the menu. Fish and chips and shepherds pie sits alongside burgers and chicken wings, and drinkers can have either a Guinness or a Budweiser, although local beer aficionados may opt for a Six Point Sweet Action. Seating isn't a problem in this warm, wood-panelled space; seats are available at the bar, in the adjacent dining room and on the patio outside. – – – – – – – –
Staff Nice, Owner Not A Nice Guy
by Celtic09
In Fort Greene, there are few pubs where you can view multiple events - you can here. Having lived in the neighborhood for ten years, this was a welcome addition. The staff are generally friendly, the owner is another story. His co-owner/wife in nice, but he's got some people issues. My friends and I have stopped going there as we've unfortunately witnessed him berate his staff for little reason on a few occasions. In fact, a few of their staff who we felt comfortable with are now gone - and none of the "locals" we've asked can get a reason why? All staff seem to cower in his presence, this is unfortunate for everybody.
I wonder if they know how much business they're losing because of his obvious, classless behavior? Our money will be spent elsewhere!
- Pros: TV's for Sports, Spacious, Outside Seating
- Cons: Owner nasty towards his own staff
Just One Block Away...

and Mullanes will dump you! This bar and grill neighborhood spot is not so neighborly. The dining in atmosphere is good enough but when it comes to delivery, make sure you don’t fall short. Their delivery limit ends at Vanderbilt, I live on Clinton. We have run into this problem before but good ol’ Mullanes pulled through and agreed to deliver one block out side of their very serious limits. I was trying to explain to the woman who answered the phone , today, to take my delivery order and when she seemed still unsure, I offered to walk one block to Vanderbilt to meet the delivery person. Silly? Yes. Sarcastic? I was not. I had spent the day at the doctors and was tired and just wanted some delivery. After I suggest this, the woman put me on the phone with dun dun dun Ian. Ian had the pretentious fake polite customer service voice, and as someone who was being completely non-argumentative and who works in hospitality, I took it personally offensive. Ian told me that they ‘”must have limits” and suggested I come pick it up. I said thank you but that I wouldn’t be coming back at all.
Mullanes is only decent and therefore maybe should be putting in a bit more effort to their clientele.
Beware of Ian!
- Pros: decent bar and grill
- Cons: delivery limits and Ian
