“Beer is served in giant jars which is kinda fun.”
“I'll definitely go back, the atmosphere was right on (for me), the beers on tap were all delicious (and you get to chose your size so you can taste more than one), the decor was thoughtful, welcoming and clever, the staff was good (bartender could have be”
“Once you land a picnic table, you head inside to fill up your tray of the delicious bbq.”
“We ended up getting the flank steak (overcooked & dried out) the bacon (pure fat) the brisket (dried out except for the fat) and the baked beans (which was the best part, but was not that good) I don't understand why people think this place is that good.”

“Its gluttony at its finest and very worth the happy bloating afterwards!”

Not worth the trip. Visited this establishment on the advice of a friend. It was raining and the only picnic table space available left our feet in an inch of water as the front of the business is a roll up garage door which apparently remains from the previous tenant. It's a bit different as you order your "meat" (ribs, pulled pork, etc.) by the pound along with your sides at the counter. I explained it was our first time and we needed some assistance ordering. This resulted in a somewhat blank stare and a brief explanation ("just order how much you want"). It seemed that unless you are a seasoned regular, you are on your own. No recommendations for sides, where you get drinks, etc. Once I the food was provided on a metal tray with kraft paper, I went to the bar to order beers. The bartender was in deep conversation with a friend sitting at the bar and literally ignored me while I stood waiting for her to acknowledge my presence (immediately to the right of her friend). I finally raised my hand thinking she may have been somewhat sight impaired and she finally looked at me without a word. Not a "how's it going", "what can I get you"....nothing. I asked for a Bud and a Corona. She said "well, first off we don't carry Bud or Corana (ouch....I felt so uncool). I then asked what beer was available and was told there were 2 "darks" and 1 "wheat". I decided to cut my losses and ask for 2 "wheats". Ribs were great. I found the baked beans a bit strong, almost a burned taste, but my companion seemed to love them. The 6 dollar "wheat" beers were served in small glass jars and hardly a deal, but adequate nevertheless. Bottom line, I found this another pretentious eatery where they'll likely be so cool and exclusive that they'll be out of business in the next few years.…
Adequate. Lines weren't too bad for a Saturday night, waited only about 15 minutes for our food however finding a seat for 3 people was another story. There are all communal tables which are a nice concept but when your restaurant serves food, is packed with people and patrons sit to only drink and talk -once finished eating- it can cause those who want to eat their meal sitting down like a normal human, lots of unnecessary stress. Food was average at best, nothing special. We had the brisket, pulled pork, berkshire spicy sausage and pork belly which as stated, were average at best. However the beef sirloin was tough, raw and inedible, and the baked beans were sub par and bitter for reasons unknown. Prices were pretty expensive since its sold by the pound and you never really know how much to order per person. Cool means of serving beer and eclectic staff but not worth the hype...Glad I tried it now don't have to wonder if I'm missing out on anything and can cross it off of my food excursion list!…
Best BBQ in the 5 boros.. A few come close, but nothing is on the level with this place. Great beer and whiskey selection. I hear the crowds can be a bit much at peak times, but I tend to go in on quieter nights.
BBQ place with the Best Vibe.
I absolutely adored Fette Sau. I think the best part about Fette Sau is that it’s set in a space in South Williamsburg that is leased from an auto body shop’s parking lot. And the restaurant is
basically in an open garage!! The wall was really artsy with drawings of all the different cut of meats. The beer tap handles were even made of knives! Some call it original. Some call it pretentious. Nonetheless, we all had a great time and loved the amazing BBQ that hit every taste bud you can think of.
We got there around 7pm on a Friday evening and the queue was still manageable. We loved the pork belly, ribs, pork shoulder, pulled pork, smoked pork sausage, baked beans and BBQ sauce / hot sauce. You can skip the brisket, tongue and other sides. The beer and whiskey selection was great and the booze came in really cute jam jars. I highly recommend going with a group of friends so you can try out the different cuts of meat, and then checking out Brooklyn Bowl for some live concert + bowling after (remember to reserve your lanes ahead of time!).…
Disappointing.
I've been to this place twice and have been disappointed twice. The ribs are just god awful. They charge by the pound so a half wrack (this site won't let me spell it correctly, apparently that's a
naughty word) of ribs is around 35 bucks. They are the full rib cut, not the st. louis cut and I don't know if they are even bbq'd. There is no smokey flavor and the meat is very tough and chewy. I stopped eating them because I got tired of wrestling the meat off of the bones. The brisket is 85% fat, which you pay for because of the by the pound pricing. The baked beans were mediocre at best. The spicey sausage however is fantastic (I'm geussing they don't make it there, I may be wrong). The whiskey/scotch selection is also very impressive.
If you do go, go on a weeknight and then plan to wait in line and fight for a seat. Avoid the ribs and brisket, get the sausage (at a couple bucks a link you can't go wrong) and maybe some pulled pork (have yet to try that). If you're looking for fantastic BBQ however I would recommend getting on the L train and heading into the city. You can find far superior BBQ in the city for close to half the price that you would end up paying here.
Overall I would say this place isn't worth the lines, waiting for seats and insane prices.…
