Perhaps because of the name of the place, I was reluctant to go, but a friend offered to treat me and my wife, so we gave it a shot. Thank you, friend! Our seats were at the bar since we didn't have reservations, and the bar was right next to and just in front of the stage. Good sight lines, just no table to lean on as you relax to listen. I turned my bar stool around and leaned on the back. Besides providing good service, the bartender was able to answer this question: "Does the band change the play list from set to set?" His answer was detailed and insightful enough that I could see he was involved and vested in what was going on. "Sometimes, the drummer will move down to the vibes," he offered. That was a good sign. Later, when the drummer did indeed move down, I looked over my shoulder and happened to make eye contact with the bartender. We nodded in recognition of the moment. The players - drum, reeds, guitar, piano, bass - were old timers. Some veterans of Benny Goodman's bands. Really first class. I don't think they tried anything too dangerous, but they did manage to create the kind of joy in the room that we always hope to find in jazz. The background to the stage are floor to ceiling windows with a view over Central Park and the Upper East Side. For those of us at the bar, with the more acute angle, the view included the huge, luxury residence tower just over a way on Columbus Circle. As I sat there, enjoying my big night out in the City, living the life, I couldn't help but notice a guy in one of the super-expensive, exclusive apartments just a hundred yards or so away. He was sitting there in cut off jeans and a t-shirt watching a ball game. Huh? No Armani, no model girlfriend serving martinis, no sophisticated soiree? Same as me, just a bigger TV and a shorter walk to the jazz joint. Not really. If you can get past DGCC name and a couple of other things corporate, the place is worth trying.
Pros: mellow, sophisticated, stylish, pleasant, intimate
Cons: The guy in the apartment across the street seemed to be a Falcons fan.

The view is great, but there seemed to be a constant buzz of talking and all of the clanking of glasses and plates was extremely audible during the performance. I can only think it's the accoustics of the room... it ruined several numbers for me.
