South Williamsburg's morning-night mash-up traffics in both top-notch coffee and terrific microbrews, with oodles of board games to boot..
In Short
Situated in a former social club, this south Williamsburg corner shop appeases early-risers (and late-risers too, given the slacker 'hood) with fresh-baked Balthazar pastries and steaming cups of coffee courtesy of New York state roaster Irving Farms. Come late afternoon, the lights dim, TVs tune into the evening's sporting slate and bartenders pour superb microbrews (look for Green Flash, Lagunitas and Arcadia) both on draft and cask. Drink a few, then roll a couple frames of Wii Sports bowling played on a projection-screen TV.
Hits: In low-key digs that are a refreshing departure from Williamsburg's usual scene, you'll glug great coffee and draft microbrews as reasonably priced as they are delicious.
Misses: Though South Fourth flips the switch from coffee shop to late-night drinkery, you best keep your voice to a dull roar: It never quite ditches its calm, bookish vibe.
