Good neighborhood bar. I am a big fan of a neighborhood bar where you can go and have a beer and not feel like you have to scream over the noise or stand up and look cool...this is the place! My boyfriend and I went on Sun night, had some great beers, including a few tasters before we chose our brew, ate some free (and nicely salted!) popcorn and had a great time watching a football game. The owner/bartender was so nice and welcomed me formally to the neighborhood...I would definitely suggest this as a great weekday or sunday night bar to just hang and feel cozy during the dark, cold winter...or: head outside to the garden in the summer!
Great selection, great atmosphere. Great draft selection, even more bottles, and a laid-back atmosphere make this a nice complement to the Cherry Tree (right across the street). As opposed to the Cherry Tree, which thrives on rowdiness and has a beer selection that's all over the map and without real depth, 4th Ave's fare seems more carefully selected, and its dim, red-tinted lighting (at the expense of the dartboard), jukebox, free popcorn(!), and lack of arcade-style buck-slaying let time pass by at a slower pace.
Editorial Review. New Park Slope pub features not-your-typical taps (including Smuttynose and Rogue) and a large outdoor garden.
