The Scene – Dining in Brooklyn's outback means hoofing it to Fourth Avenue, but the walk works up an appetite for hearty Aussie grub. The bar/restaurant is split with a wooden bar and tables up front, and a spacious dining room, plus sidewalk seating to the back. Slow service works fine for the laid-back bar crowd, but can frustrate hungry diners. – – The Food – What Sheep Station does best is serve beer and food without preening or pretense. One of Australia's most famous exports, the meat pie tastes strikingly like chili. For the nibblers, there's a mounding salad of…

Great Aussie-styple Gastropub, Atmosphere and food were spot on

by adam10016 at Citysearch

All around a good time. Atmosphere and tables were perfect for a group of friends, place had both picnic-table style benches and couple's tables; fireplace was a nice plus. Food was hearty, tasty, and priced awesome. Service was prompt and friendly, but never fake or overly nice. Will be bookmarking this place.

  • Pros: Great food and atmosphere, fireplace, and cheap!
  • Cons: Makes me need to learn my way around brooklyn better

Skimpy sandwiches

by audibleeats at Citysearch

I ordered a $13 lamb sandwich and a beer and didn't feel satisfied when I left. The lamb sandwich was skimpy on the meat and came on a soggy slider-style roll.

  • Pros: Nice ambiance
  • Cons: skimpy portions

Awesome Atmos!!!

by socialchick08 at Citysearch

Can I just say "I love this Fricken place"!!!!! It's awesome! It has three different phases 1)being the chilled back afternoon pint 2)The dinner rush 3)the after midnight party rocks on. I've been here many a time and I always have a great time. The bartenders are soooooooooooo cool. There's an Aussie guy (cute) and a couple American's. They all know how to make a wicked coctail and appear to have secret day jobs as they can hold a great conversation. The owners and staff are simply the best. They don't even have to try to make you comfortable because they are chilled and know what they are doing. The food is simple but soooo hearty and the beer is wide in range. After midnight the music slowly pumps up and by 2am your shakin it with old school tunes from rock to hip hop to Reggae...and you never feel like you have to leave.

  • Pros: knowledgeable bartenders, great music, cute crowd, no hipsters
  • Cons: not enough cute aussies
