beautifuf.
I been a regular at Lola since they open and i love it.
The service is great, the food is nice specialy the lamb tajine . i love the open kitchen.
Just stop by , even for a glasse of wine and enjoy the deco, the winerack rocks...and all the antique bistro stuff are amazing.
Neighborhood Spot. I moved to Fort Greene 8 motnhs ago (after living 12 yrs on the Upper West Side). The opening of Chez Lola made my life in the neighborhood more pleasant. I visit it several times a week, sometimes even just for a glass of wine and its terrific cheese terrine. The food is always delicious (great daily specials, I had Venison the other night); service very attentive and fast. The waiters and managers make you feel right at home. The cocktail menu is very addictive?.. it always hard to have only one of those pear martinis?. We all are very lucky to have a restaurant like Lola in our neighborhood. Believe me, I never got even a warm greeting or any attention in restaurants that I visited on the UWS for years. They already started brunch as well, and since it's not very crowded its very easy to get a table.
Great food, great prices and a very cool, relaxed atmosphere.... do it!. I watched and waited for this place to open and it was well worth the wait. The owners really know what they are doing.... the place looks great (check out the art and the overhead lamps!), the service is attentive and friendly, the food is delicious (try the salmon burger and the manilla clams, also the vegetable appetizer is amazting) and the prices are very reasonable. They just started brunch and if it is anything like Chez Oskar's brunch, this place is a really great new addition to the neighborhood. Ohhh... I almost forgot the garden in the back yard. There are heaters now, but in the warm weather this place will be SLAMMING!!!!
Fort Greene bistro one-ups big brother Oskar with a gorgeous back garden..
The Scene
Tin paneling, high ceilings, and a palette of green and ochre lead diners through this long, skinny restaurant owned by the same folks as Chez Oskar. The front and back dining rooms are dimly lit and romantic, separated by a sliver of a kitchen. But the show-stopper is out back: a beautiful garden with stone floor, brick walls and a canopy of green trees.
The Food
The bistro fare includes appetizers like a cheese terrine served with maple syrup dressing, and delicious Bartlett pears stuffed with blue cheese and balanced atop serrano ham. Juicy New Zealand rack of lamb, falling off the bone, causes serious entree envy among dinner companions. Flaky red snapper crusted with crushed macadamia nuts is offset by a side of Moroccan chickpeas, sun-dried tomatoes and green beans. Like any good bistro, desserts are worth the calories: White-chocolate lavender bread pudding is rich and sweetly perfumed.
Most Gorgeous Garden.
I know I know - it's getting cold but you've gotta see this garden!!!a Llola is great inside too. The decor is totally old world (I never knew you could make a winerack out of twin sized mattress springbed) and reminiscent of the thirties (or even twenties?). I've also never seen lights like these: big colorful spheres ...
I loved the cheese terrine, I just wanted more. I am a repeat offender with the pasta - there is guitarra, pumpkin and sage ravioli and papardelle with veal.
I came with a friend who has a great nose for wines. He was impressed by the wine list.
We rolled homevery happy after devouring a crunchy meringue pie ...
best decor and scene especially the beautiful garden.
