“GREAT sound, drama free crowd, huge space.”
FRAUD!!!. I liked the club but their website said "free before 11pm" and I showed up at 10:30pm they said it was only for ladies though their website did not mention that at all. I double checked this and was correct so asked to speak with a manager and the door staff said that there was no one available so I had to pay $20. FRAUD! It was a fun night otherwise, too bad they had to ruin it by fraudulently luring people in.
coolness. This is a very good place to have fun. They always have some special event. Beer is not so expensive, and staff is cool. This is one avant-garde place in NYC.
review from a semi-regular.. i started going here about a year and a half ago, and ive never had a bad experience. the place has become better and better since then, especially now since justine d's the events coordinator. even though its out of the way, its a place thats definately worth it. the bouncers aren't too bad, neither are the bartenders. it's a good crowd, i always meet friendly people, its one of my favorite places to go to.
Once you find this place, worth it!.
Luckily I had a ride with a friend, which is rare in NYC, but with a google map on hand we made it there with no problem. I am not sure which is the closest train, which makes it difficult to get there easily. But once we entered this place, luckily we had tickets for the Chromeo concert (line wrapped around the block by 11.30) it was a blast. GREAT sound, drama free crowd, huge space. Bartenders were quick, but only 3 behind one of the two and it made it kind of slow to get a drink. And not sure if air was on in this place, it was HOT!
Looking forward to checking it out again, soon.
Fast Service in a Peaceful Setting. I am a regular at Studio B and everytime I go there I'm always pleased at the quality of service. The line is never a problem (the bouncers are actually nice) and when you are inside the bartenders are SUPER FAST and polite. I went there one day and it was very packed, the NY in me took over and I was like "great I'll never get a drink". I was really really wrong cause within seconds I had a drink. I've gone to almost all the biggest clubs in Manhattan and you either pay alot to see a good artist or you pay alot to see a crappy artist. At studio B I've never seen the cover over $15 and they have some of the best artists perform there (Ex. LCD Soundsystem, The Klaxons, Z-Trip, GrandWizard Theodore, Chromeo, etc.). Go to the studio b website to check out the lineups (clubstudiob). If you really want to take in the NY underground scene then Studio B is what your looking for.
The nightlife mavens behind the Delancey hatch an indie nightclub out of a Brooklyn warehouse.. Dark warehouses dominate Greenpoint's grimy waterfront, making this 9,500-square-foot music space a sort of oasis. Whether the hot pink marquee and fluorescent lights are leftovers from its Polish nightclub days or meant to be ironically hip is up for debate. The club's A-list curators include Justine D (of Motherf*cker fame) on DJs and Joady Thornton (a U.K. promoter) on bands. A clear sound system is equipped to handle both. The crowd fluxes with the music, but expect plenty of Williamsburg representation.
