Miss this place!. I use to live across the street from this place and would run in for emergencies all the time. The hair salon is amazing, and warm. You wouldn't expect such quality from a Williamsburg salon, however the absence of hipsters contribute to the professional and comfort I have continuously experienced here. I have since moved, and miss the reliability and great quality of Velvet Rose.

You owe it to yourself!!!. I visited this salon after finding it on Citysearch. The first visit was impressive, but I am reluctant to submit a review based upon a single experience. My second visit confirmed what I suspected; this is by far the best mani/pedi experience over many decades and localities. It is transformative -- a compressed vacation. My only regret is that I cannot go every day! You owe it to yourself to be this indulgent and you will never want to go anywhere else but to Audrey. Enjoy!!!

A GOOD MANI & PEDI EXPERIENCE FOR JUST $20. SIMPLY THE BEST MANICURE AND PEDICURE I EVER HAVE. I HIGHLY RECOMENDED.THE SALON IS SUPERCLEAN AND THE NAIL TECH AND THE OWNER ARE VERY FRIENDLY. I'M LOOKING TO RETURN BACK TO TRY ANOTHER SERVICES.

Velvet Roses is the place to be on Mondays!. Although I am a semi-faithful customer (semi-faithful meaning I'm not a regular at any salon really) this is definitely my favorite salon, which I frequent the most. I've recommended a few of my friends to Maribel because she is just the best. Most recently I bumped into there latest sale which is just splendid. They have a new Pedicurist Audry so in a triple combo Monday package I got a Manicure, Pedicure and a famous (Maribel) Blow-dry for only $45 bucks. Maribel, needless to say made my hair look flawless and Audry was incredible. she gave me new implements which I take home (sanitary big plus!). The stage like manicurist area was neatly packed with all the essentials of a big nail salon. Definitely worth the trip to Brooklyn.

Simply put - THE BEST!. My experiences at Velvet Roses have always been the best! Maribel and Ruthie are fabulous and make me feel that way too. I am always greeted and treated with respect and familiarity, it really is like visiting with friends.

Maribel cut my hair last and she did an awesome job - I am getting compliments left and right from everyone.. espeically my boyfriend =)

I definately recommend Velvet Roses to ANYONE... you will be very satisfied with the service and the price too - I promise!

In the Zone.... I am a common face here at Velvet Roses, as financially possible at least. I love the vibe of this place. Its roomy, clean, modern but not overly modern to where it looks like the owner just tried way to hard. In essence its just perfect! The owner Maribel is the epitome of a superb host, sometime it feels more like your visiting a friend then going to a business. I've had that experience where getting "beautified" feels more like a chore then a treat. Anyhow I mainly go the VR for my color but most recently I've paid a random visit and to my surprise there is a full time pedicurist there, so I say what the hell.....WOW her service was superb, I paid $1.00 extra to have my own implements (very sanitary), she's also offering these crazy pedicures {ice cream, jell-o etc}. It was incredible the way she took her time and really did my feet!

Just read my experience....no subject heading needed. I'm a regular at VRBS, this is my spot for everything! I usually do my hair with the first available stylist, waxing etc. Maribel has rented out the teensy spot in the back to Audrey and Dubbed it Velvet Nails. Now I've gotten my share of Pedi and Mani and although the local nail spot on the corners are okay if you want to get your feet washed and polished sometimes you need a good scrub. Moving forward, Audrey offered me a Spa Deluxe Pedi and Mani. Unrivaled is the best word I can think of at the moment, I didn't want it to be over!!! She took her time scrubbed and massaged my whole leg. it wasn't rushed, she very professional and on point to the last finishing touches of the polish. And I?ve already secured my slot for a Jell-O pedicure next week.

What I liked the most about her was that you can tell she really loves what she does, she is extremely knowledgeable about products, what their best uses are and what works the best when in combination. Not to mention she brings a cheerful, friendly addition to the small staff at Velvet Roses.

Pleasantly suprised! Great experience!. I was tired of paying $80+ for a haircut in the burg, especially because I have really short hair. I read positive reviews about Velvet Roses, saw that the price was reasonable, and decided to give it a try. I must admit that I was hesitant to go there because I'm used to going to the overly-hipster haircutting places in Williamsburg, and Velvet Roses is a local, family-owned business. My appointment was with Ruth who gave me an outstanding haircut. She really took her time and told me what she was doing at all times (since I have really short, layered hair and it's easy to screw up). She wanted to make sure that I was happy with how it turned out and really made me feel comfortable. Overall a great experience. And...the haircut was only $45! Would highly recommend!

Neighbor.....and Friend. I usually like to read reviews of places that I frequent or would like to (although never adding my thoughts) and bumped into this citysearch feud, started by Ms. Magoo. I love the support that all my fellow VR enthusiast have showed Maribel (the owner) and I am obliged to respond to Magoo's "PS": its funny how you mention that you don't care about the yummy coffees but before the PS addition that was your last sentence...(just had to throw that in first). I do agree with you however that everyone has bad days, and perhaps these wonderful stylist just couldn't please YOU (which is fine) but to bad mouth them and there customer service is just in the wrong..... and girl you know its untrue! Its just not in Maribel?s (the owner) character!

I've been hear an uncountable amount of times and customer service is always up to par, even if I?m not feeling my hair 100%, I?m always reassured that it can be redone till I?m happy! I?ve sent over dozens of customers to Maribel and have had no complaints.

SOOO Ms Magoo my point is, just because You in particular were unhappy you shouldn't bad mouth foolishly, and yes the "big boys" might be un affected by bad reviews, but this is a family owned small business (key word), which has relied on a good reputation to keep the doors opened. Hence for a ONE TIME RANDOM PERSON to bash Velvet Roses is TOTOALY UNCALLED FOR.

What the........ I followed Maribel from the city. Not only is she my stylist but she has become my friend over the 10 years I?ve been with her. We have built a relationship out side of her salon and that review is just bogus!! I've gone to Velvet Roses (just to say hi) on occasion and I've seen Ruthie and Maribel walk clients out in the rain with an umbrella so they don?t mess up their ?do? or run to the local 99 cent store to get umbrellas etc. I mean I?ve been there that it feels more like a deli than a salon, her mom often making yummy coffee, giving out cookies heck I?ve even been fortunate to have some homemade rice and beans (so now you see why I just stop by)! Both Maribel and Ruthie accommodate late and early clients the same, always with a smile....so honestly why did this "B" write that mean review! If she wasn't happy with her hair then fine, but don't be malicious and lie about the service, because I'm sure that even if you weren't 100%satisfied with the results service was given with a smile like always.

I really hope she reads all the supportive reviews from REAL CLIENTS so she can see that the problem was definitely her. And I must agree with my fellow VRBS goers that Ms. Magoo missed a dosage!
