Brooklyn >A A Arrow Moving & Storage Incorporated
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Apparently this company has two profiles on yelp, so I am double-posting to make sure no one else gets gamed like I've been gamed by them.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Here is a laundry list why:
DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES
BE WARE. They SEVERELY underquoted my move, and I ended up paying DOUBLE the quote I received from them. And this, after I got rid of a bunch of furniture and things that were initially included in the quote.
They showed up over 6 hours late on my move-out date, with no phone call to let me know. I called about 6 to 8 times checking on the status of when they'd arrive, and each time got an "I don't know, we'll call you when we have an estimate." They never called.
They were supposed to be there at 10am. They showed up at 6:30pm, and without the appropriate tools to get the job done. It was so late when they arrived, there were no hardware stores open to get the necessary tools, so I ended up having to abandon my washer and dryer because they weren't able to disconnect them. This cost me big time. I was charged by my landlord for leaving them, and then I had to turn around and buy another set when I got to my new place.
SERIAL UNANSWERED EMAILS & PHONE CALLS
I emailed and called over the span of a month, inquiring about my expected delivery date, with no return email or calls back.
So I received a surprise phone call on a Saturday afternoon from a dispatcher informing me my things would be delivered between Tuesday and Thursday, and I better be there or my stuff would be sent back to Brooklyn and stored at an additional cost to me. THIS is what you call "scheduling"? Sorry, in my book that's called "informing", and strongarming. Nevermind the fact that I have to arrange for time off of work and rearrange my life in order to bow to their whim.
Apparently, I was supposed to receive a phone call 24 hours in advance of the actual delivery to notify me when exactly the movers would be at my house. I received no such call, so I have been emailing and calling several times between Tuesday and Thursday with no response. I finally call and demand to speak with a manager - she claims they showed up on a Tuesday to deliver my things, and called me - and I'm the one who didn't answer, or show. Don't you think if they showed up, were expecting me to be there, that they'd call to see what's up? Wouldn't you think this is important enough to leave a message? Well, I have no missed calls and no messages.
The second dispatch bitch who called to inform me of another delivery window - this time "sometime between Saturday and Sunday" needs to be fired. She has no business being customer-facing and I let her manager know it. She, again, told me I better be there or my stuff would be sent back to BK and I would be charged storage and another delivery fee. So I said okay I'd do my best to be there, and she said to me, and I quote, "Quit playing games with me I'm in no mood." Irony?
I just received a call from a blocked number. The female on the other end said "We'll see if you ever get your $h!it." and hung up.
I called the manager to inform her of the situation, and see if there truly is anything that this employee can do to hinder my shipment being delivered. She denied that it happened, said "Maybe you have enemies?", and eventually said no, there is nothing the employee can do. I guess we'll see what happens this weekend.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY...BEWARE.
I would think twice about using this company if you want your move to go as planned.
I hired this moving company on August 4th 2011. I dealt with ChristineH for weeks regarding everything about my move. She was pleasant and I was happy (at the time) do give this company my business. HUGE MISTAKE.
The day before our original move, which was set for August 27th 2011, I get a call from Mike (he says he's the manger) to reschedule the move due to weather. It wasn't really due to the weather conditions, it ultimately was because the moving crew weren't able to use the subways after 12:00 pm. I was told this by Mike after he realized I wasn't buying the excuse from the beginning. Well, we rescheduled for Wednesday, August 31st 2011 between 8:00 am and 9:00 am.
So, here I am, with my sister, waiting for the movers to arrive. After about an hour, I call the office to find out where they are. I was told they were stuck in traffic and would be there within an hour. I called back an hour later, and again, they said they were stuck in traffic. This happened a couple more times. They showed up 4 hours later from when they said they would be there. I was already unhappy.
The movers had such a bad attitude as well and tried to charge me so much more money then what I was told. They wanted to charge for materials that were already suppose to be free to us. They sat around for a little under an hour just looking around outside.
My husband and I called several times to speak to a manager and we were told each time that we called that they were not in the office at the time. After the movers arrived, apparently, the manager decided to show up at work. I get on the phone with Mike (the manager) and explain to him that I am a very unhappy customer already. He proceeds to tell me that I am not really a customer yet. If you ask me, once I send in a deposit for 30% of the move cost, I AM a customer. So, I tell him that and he says "well, you aren't but what's your problem"?
After a few minutes, I tell him to call my husband on his call phone since I no longer want to speak with him about this. He calls my husband and it just gets better. My husband explains to him that this is unacceptable and we need to be compensated for some of the stress and aggravation. Mike doesn't seem to agree. After a few minutes of them chatting, Mike tells my husband to find a new moving company. My husband at this point is outraged over his reaction. So, he tells mike that we will see him in small claims court. Mike then tells my husband "I will see you on the street before you see me in court", curses my husband out on the phone and then hangs up on him.
As my husband is calling me back, I look up to see the movers are already back in their truck and leaving my house without a word to me about it.
Now, we are waiting for the return of our deposit money. I have called ChristineH several times without success. She seems to always be out of the office when I call. The last time I called this morning, Mike just happened to pick up the phone, gives me attitude and tells me that Christine must be in the bathroom constipated and that is why she cannot come to the phone. I say "wow, that's new" and he says "yup" and hangs up on me. He knew who I was and what I was calling about.
I do not understand how this company can hire such a Manager to take care of business like this. The stress and aggravation from this company is not worth it.
We then rented a truck, got some family and friends to help and did the move ourselves.
BEST MOVING COMPANY.
Arrow Moving is the best Moving Company
They did a great job. I only gave 4 hrs notice and they were able to get me a truck.
Arrow Moving is a great Moving Company. I moved from Brooklyn NY to New Haven CT. I have a 4 bedroom house. My moved took 2 days. I felt very comfortable with Dennis from the beginning. I HAD TONS OF moving companies calling me after I filled up for a free moving quote (big mistake lol). The guys did a great job. I would definately recommend them.
Thank U ARROW MOVING. I just wanted to Thank Arrow Moving for the great moving job that they did. It was a real pleasure doing business with you. I was very happy with the moving crew (Igor, Andre, and Joesph). Our things arrived in Florida in a timely manner and in good condition!!!!
Beware...These are not people you want handling your move.
Buyer beware. This company operates under various names, and does not stand by its estimates. They charged us over 2x more than the initial quote, would not discuss the details, and held our items for ransom until we paid. I would not recommend my enemies to them! Do not use them for anything.
They are located at 140 58th St, Brooklyn, NY 11220. Phone 718-439-6630 or toll free 888-239-6683.
I used Arrow Moving for a move of a bedroom set from PA to NY on 11/29/10. I contacted them and had been speaking to Dennis for over a week. Dennis had a heavy Brooklyn accent and was very friendly and accomodating. He advised me of all the details and also said that Arrow was a family owned business that didnt play games and there were no hidden charges. The email quote provided was for $570.03 plus tolls. Dennis advised I would be charged for only the travel time from PA to NY, plus an hour to load and an hour to unload, in addition to the tolls. It was understood that if the movers got delayed by traffic, I could be liable for a few hundered more, as they are paid by the hour. He also said they accepted cash only. This should have clued me in as most business' that only accept cash are shady, however he was very personable and seemed trustworthy so I booked the move. Come moving day, 11/29/10, the movers hadn't arrived in PA at the designated time so I called Dennis. Dennis was not available but the woman who answered the phone told me the movers were stuck in traffic and would be a bit late. They arrived about 50 minutes late, and loaded the truck within 40 minutes. They were to arrive in NY about 3 hours later. While waiting for them to arrive, I took out $850 in cash from the bank which should have more than covered the move and a nice tip for the moving men. Four hours later when the movers hadnt arrived I called into the office and asked for Dennis. The guy that answered the phone told me that Dennis wasnt around but the movers got stuck in traffic but should be here soon. He also tells me that the bill for the move is 1200 plus tax and tolls! At this point I am in shock as this is more than twice as much as they had quoted me. I ask them to explain to me how this is possible. My husband is freaking out- he does the math and theres no way this should cost so much. Of course the guy we are talking to in the office says we can no longer speak to Dennis- he tells my husband we must pay or they will keep our furniture. He then hung up on my husband and called his men who were now waiting in front of my home. He told them that we would have to pay before they unloaded anything, and if we didnt that they would bring the items to their Brookly warehouse and be sold at autction! The man in the office and the 3 guys in the truck all have heavy accents (Russian I believe). They will not listen to reason, nor pay attention to the quote I have in hand pulled from email from their company. Although "Dennis" from Brooklyn worked the deal and had answered the phone personally for 2 weeks, we were not allowed to speak with him. They also said the truck was going back to PA and we had to pay for that trip, so they looked into their crystal ball and came up with additional charges. (Although the license plates were registered in NY, DOT 33651.) They made us pay before we could even inspect the delivery- Dont be fooled. Next time I will deal with a well known nationwide moving company instead of a company of theives acting like they are running their own little mafia. Its a shame, because I am sure that there are some good family owned business' out there, and guys like this ruin it for everyone. They did a clean pickup and delivery- even set up the bed. So if cost is of no concern, and you dont mind getting ripped off, hung up on, and threatened, then this is the moving company for you! As for me, they get a negative rating.
