This place is the pits. Burned coffee, nasty, slow service, and stale pastries. I've been here 4 times in 2 years (only because it's so convenient to my apt) and it has never been good. It's horrible!!!!!!

I decided to try Has Beans when I moved to the neighborhood and, unfortunately, found a dead roach in my iced coffee. It may have been bad luck but I can't bring myself to give it a second try. Try Cafe Sutra across the street... good coffee, good atmosphere!

has beans has been serving the developing south slope area delicious, high-end coffee, teas, and other beveridges and fresh, locally bakes goods since 2003. peggy has been serving coofee and roasting beans for 30 years, and one can tell from the quality of the brews that the coffee at has beans has been artfully roasted and prepared. the french roast and organic house blend are special favorites, as the the delicious french pastries from marquette bakeries in carroll gardens, and the fantastic iced coffee, in french vanilla or cinnamon hazelnut. they also sell coffee by the pound, including a variety of organic, free trade, decaf, and flavored options. has beans carries mostly breakfast foods and pastries, with a few sandwiches as well, and has vegan and wheat free goddies available. there are two computers, one hooked up to a printer/scanner, and rates are very reasonable-$8.00/hr, with small print jobs included for free. the casual service is very freindly and knowledgeable, and the cafe has a very neighborhood feel-customers frequently start up conversations with each other waiting in line, and elderly residents who have lived in the area thier whole lives share space with young hipsters new to new york. while the decor is simple and not stylish, the lack of fancy club chairs and arty details seems to mean lower prices-a great 12 oz cup of coffee only runs you $1, even if you take soymilk. PROS: great coffee, cheap, internet, freindly atmosphere, vegan options, CONS: small, few lunch options, not romantic, iffy wifi
