“The atmosphere isn't that great, but the food is REALLY good.”
“Average sushi, some nice specialty rolls”
“Sushi cooks are very friendly and nice, what I can't say about wait stuff, that's why only 4 stars is given.”
“I've eaten here a few times before and the service was never the greatest, but the prices are good and the sushi isn't too bad either.”
Sushi Virgin's paradise. For the sushi virgin's, this is the place to go. I honestly hated sushi, and was stubborn to try it. Every time I went there, I would always order non-sushi food, like terriyaki beef or something. But one time a friend got me to go and suggested to me to try the sushi. I wanted to be safe and decided to order the all you can eat sushi and a order of terriyaki beef. Needless to say, the waitress looked at me like "WTF?". It seemed ridiculous to order food when I already had an all you can eat. So I canceled the beef. Now most of the sushi is for sushi virgins, safe foods, like fried stuff and basic fish and even egg and tofu. I was scared that I would get eel or like some mega exotic fish that no American could pronounce. But they have basic sushi that everyone can love, especially if you hate fish.
Very good sushi and rolls. We go to Tepmura pretty often, and always liked the food. I also like the atmosphere there, so small and so cute. Sushi cooks are very friendly and nice, what I can't say about wait stuff, that's why only 4 stars is given.
Keep on looking. Last weekend I came to eat here with my friends. I've eaten here a few times before and the service was never the greatest, but the prices are good and the sushi isn't too bad either. This last time the service was very slow and very unfriendly, especially when it wasn't busy at all that night. The only times we saw our waitress was when she was serving the food that took quite a while to come and handing us the bill. We even had to ask another waitress for our second round of drinks. When we got the bill we were not satisfied with our service and left roughly half of the tip we would've given for good service, the waitress looked at the tip and asked "are you not satisfied with our service here?" and put the bill back down on the table refusing to accept our tip and demand more. It was safe to say after that we weren't happy at all with Tempura. I don't think anyone should be forced to pay more tip for bad service and an unfriendly staff.
Average sushi, some nice specialty rolls. Average sushi, with a decent all-you-can-eat option. The volcano rolls are delicious, as are some of the other specialty rolls, but the sashimi is mediocre. There are better sushi options in Bay Ridge and Bensonhurst.
