Tips for Trinidad Ali Roti Shop

REAL authentic Trini food, great portions and prices. I am a Trinidadian food connoisseur and I must say that Ali's on Flatbush (can't speak for the ones on Fulton or Utica) never fails to please. Anytime i stop by for doubles, they are always fresh and crispy, not too sweet with well cooked chana. My boyfriend (who is from Trinidad) raves about it too and if it pleases his picky self it's sure to please most people who know about Trini food. He always get the curry goat roti with tamarind and pepper which is pretty consistent. i like the boneless curry chicken roti and they always have several different roti's available. The roti skin (which is usually where most places go wrong) has never been a problem either. When I'm not in the mood for roti, I am always satisfied with their delicious macaroni pie and callaloo. not many people can make a good callaloo but this places manages to achieve it. overall, it's always satisfying and you can't beat the prices or authenticity. Ali's always saves the day compared to all the other nasty roti shops out there...especially the disgusting ones on Church Ave.
