“Called several times - and got vague answers ("we're now doing *extensive* diagnostics, after we've done the *regular* diagnostics", yeah, right).”
“Terrible customer service.”
“And the power supply was a much less expensive repair than the logic board, which was the other part in question.”
“Grumpy counter folks, slow diagnosis, and crappy store hours.”
Incompetent. Go elsewhere!. Sorry to say, I agree with the negative reviewers. For several years I’ve been supporting this store, even back when it was on 9th St. I bought several computers from them for myself, for my office, and referred others to them. I wanted them to succeed, because I want an apple store/repair shop to be successful in Brooklyn. The store is in my neighborhood, and that would be very convenient. But after such horrid service from them on several occasions, lies, suspicious "repairs", lousy work, excuses, stories etc. etc, I finally gave up on them and will never ever use them again. The schlep into the city is well worth it. I strongly urge you to GO ELSEWHERE. If you use these guys, you will be sorry.
Best Apple store right here!.
I had called the Apple Store before I knew about this place and the Apple Store doesn't even fix iPods! The Apple Store just wants to sell you another iPod, which is annoying. I brought The Mac Store my 3G iPod and later an iPod Classic 160Gb and had no troubles whatsoever. No bent parts or shoddy work. And they turned it around in the time they said they would.
The guy there talked a little fast but that place is VERY busy and I saw him wanting to keep up with the many customer service requests. It was a good experience and I would recommend it.
Respect The Store. This place ROCKS. I had my iPod fixed there but also wanted to see how garageband worked. Guy there gave me a full demo answered a zillion questions and I was sold. Bought the works and I love my new toys. Had a few more questions later and had no problem calling them up. I LOVE having this place there when I'm home from touring. They know it all but don't act uppity about it. Sweet….
Very satisfied customer. I brought my 17" iMac to the Mac Support Store because it would not turn on and I didn't know what was wrong. Now I have my computer back, fully functioning with a new hard drive. I couldn't be happier with the service that I received here and would bring my computer back. Whenever I had to deal with the store, the employee at the front desk was always professional and helpful. I would recommend this store.
They are great.. I had a terrible problem with my brand new iMac and they were able to fix my problems and give me tips on how to get the best out of apple.
Yep it's good. Awesome place! I bought my first Mac there last week and was very pleased with the fellow who I spoke to on the phone then later in the store. Cool atmosphere as well - thank you!!!!
Helpful and efficient. They are super. And I do mean super. Friendly staff, repair only took a few days and the price was very, very fair. They understand what's important to customers and that is a good positive experience.
Rudest phone call ever. There can be nothing worse than calling this store when you are in a computer crisis. The staff are incredibly rude, condescending and aloof. Your problem does NOT matter to them and they take no pains to hide their disdain. Send them a box of prozac and tell them their lives aren't as crappy as they must believe STAT. I would never give them my business.
Great personalized support. They are great. I had a terrible problem with my brand new Imac and they were able to fix my problems and give me tips on how to get the best out of apple.
don't bring repairs here - they are incompetent or worse.
I haven't seen a store this poorly run or this dangerous to your computer in years.
One friend of mine asked me to help with a Mac Pro that would not boot off the internal hard drive. I brought the computer to Mac Support Store, who after holding the computer for 3 days said the motherboard was bad AND the two CPUs on the motherboard were bad, and would be around $2000 to repair. We brought that computer instead to Tekserve, who diagnosed an unusual problem with the internal hard drive and charged $130 for their time. The computer in question is now up and running with a new hard drive, which cost another $60.
My other friend, around the same time, brought in a Mac laptop that would not boot. Mac Support Store said hard drive was bad and a replacement would be $350 or so. She initially approved the work but then after a couple of days realized that they weren't getting the repair done by the promised deadline, so she went in there to take it back. They gave her a runaround about how they had already done the work, but finally gave her back the computer and it turned out they had done nothing with it. In other words, they lied to her about when they would do the work, and they were lying to her while she was in the store. She brought it somewhere else who diagnosed a software issue and got the laptop working again.
I hate writing negative reviews, so I went to the store before I wrote this and asked to speak to them about their diagnosis of the Mac Pro that I had brought them. They told me "the technician isn't in today", and that the owner would not speak to me either.
If you look around yelp or elsewhere online, you'll find plenty of horror stories, many much worse than mine. The NYC Better Business Bureau has had 8 complaints about them, and the store has not responded to the BBB on any of them, earning the store an F rating.
I'm really glad that in these two cases, we didn't let them work on the computers. It's clear that whatever work that they would have done would have been expensive and not have addressed the actual problems.
