Brooklyn >Slope Suds
“Top quality cut, style and color with professional, fun, down-to-earth staff”
“The place also feels wonderfully clean, fresh and mellow.”
“What a great place to get a haircut.”
“recommend he stops reading Running with scissors for hair tips, and go back to hair dressing school for a couple of extra semesters, or just stick to drying hair, and not use sharp objects.”
“In this big city, Slope Suds is the friendly, neighborhood salon, where "everyone knows your name" and their stylists are as professional and experienced as the top stylists in manhattan - except the service at Slope Suds is a LOT friendlier and more welc”
“but is it worth a less than professional staff and what seems to be a total disregard to organization of any kind?”
“Tanya not only gave me a great cut but took the time to show me how to style my hair in 5 minutes and she didn't blow-dry it she just let it air dry so I could see how it would look on a normal day and make adjustments if need be.”
GREAT GREAT GREAT.
Wonderful experience at this salon! Texas is amazing. She's never done my hair before but I've seen others with great cuts and color from her and just decided to trust her to do whatever she thought would be right for me. My highlights look beautiful and then Elke tinted my brows to match and shaped my brows perfectly. I believe their latest stylist shift has really changed the entire energy of the place and everyone seems much happier now. I was in and out so quickly and the price was super fair and totally worth it.
I can't wait for Texas to do my next cut!
Best Eyebrow Shaping - not just in Brooklyn - but in NYC!!!. I've been to Eliza and Robin Evans. Both are very good, but I find that Elke's "eye" is more suitable to my own as far as shape and expression. I like a more natural brow with a pleasant expression. I can't stand the harsh overly extended or arched brows that seem to be out there a lot. I just want to look like me - only better. Elke spent about an hour with me - listening, talking and getting to know my likes and dislikes. She totally understood!! She looked me face-on to see my bone structure and how my brows naturally grew. She explained every part to me and let me even watch while she was doing them so that I could say, "NOOOOOO!!" if I needed to. I didn't need to. She shaped them and they look beautiful. They are the best I've ever had! I still need to grow one in more due to previous overwaxing. But Elke gave me tips on how to get them to grow faster and fuller. I'm SO glad I've found her. She is wonderful and I feel really lucky to have her in my neighborhood. WONDERFUL!!!
Not worth the price.. I have used Citysearch as a guide to various things in my neighborhood and thought I should contribute my opinion, for what it's worth. I have had both good and bad experiences at Slope Suds. Love Karla's haircuts but not so much the others there, and I find the service unreliable in general. For instance, a couple of times I received messages -- just minutes before my scheduled appointment -- that they needed to reschedule, or that the time I had written down was incorrect (not likely). Once the hair stylist forgot to wash my hair. Overall, I haven't been impressed and think that, for the price, you should get better service. A great haircut is worth a lot...but is it worth a less than professional staff and what seems to be a total disregard to organization of any kind? I don't think so.
disappointing..... had one great haircut and then a couple of mediocre haircuts and then one bad haircut - the last time, i asked for a blunt cut but Karla seems to only know how to do layers (which are going to take forever to grow out and look decent)- -i don't know about the other stylists, maybe they are better.... very disappointed because they're aren't many places in park slope/prospect heights.....9
Don't Ignore The Bad Reviews!!!!. I was checking the reviews for Slope Suds to see if anyone had had a terrible experience like I did. Let's just say I wasn't shocked to see that there were bad reviews. After making the decision to switch stylists, I tried this salon for my cut and highlights. It was AWFUL. My color was so brassy and not close to the scalp at all. I looked like a skunk who got my highlights done 4 weeks earlier. My cut wasn't awful, but it definitely wasn't the greatest. After contemplating whether to go back and have them redo it or go back to my original stylist with my tail between my legs, I decided to tuck my tail. No one at Slope Suds will ever touch my hair again. With that said, believe what reviews you like, just know that your hair and wallet will suffer.
Excellent haircut!. I'm extremely particular with who cuts my hair, but I took a chance with Karla (the owner) and she gave the best haircut ever. I'll definitely go there again.
My hair looks Amazing!. I went into this ultra cool salon in hopes that the rave reviews were right and the rude reviews were wrong. I'm so glad that I gave it a chance. I usually have a little trouble communicating what I want, so I brought a picture that I had clipped from a magazine. The stylist took the consultation seriously, considered the texture of my hair and the shape of my face and helped me understand what would work for me. My hair looks Amazing!
worst haircut ever. Pleasant, personable but apparently incompetent to deliver the haircut we agreed on. The result is not a different haircut but just no styling at all with a big section chopped out which will take at least 6 months to grow out sufficiently to correct. Also, even though we agreed to leave the length, at least 3 inches were taken off. So much gel and styling were used it was impossible to judge the results. After washing, I don't see any evidence of any kind of training--I could have done this myself, but most definitely wouldn't have. The most unprofessional haircut I have ever had.
NEVER again. I made an appointment based on all the great reviews it had. Apparently there was a shift at some point because the salon I read about was not the salon I experienced. My stylist seemed inexperienced, unpersonable and didn't seem to have my best interests at heart. I went in with an idea of what I wanted, was told that it would work, but somehow ended up 2 inches shorter and with really chunky, unblended layers and bangs. I put my hair in a ponytail as soon as I left the salon. I had contemplated getting color done, but after this haircut experience, that won't be happening. If I had wanted a mediocre haircut, I would have gone to a mediocre priced salon. I'm also not sure about the "Soap Bar" thing. Is it a guise to hide the terrible hairstyling? I wouldn't waste your time, money, or wanted hair length.
I'm in love.
I love Brendon's style he is professional and really friendly. He is very patient and unlike other Park Slope Salons that I have been to (lord knows I have been to almost all) he actually LISTENED to what I wanted to do w/ my hair. After leaving the salon someone actually stopped me to ask where I get my hair done, something that has NEVER happened to me before.
The salon is friendly, professional, and they make a mean cappuccino. Love it, love it. I am hooked.
