“Karla gave me the best haircut I've had since moving to NY 3 years ago --stylish, fun and perfect for the summer.”
“The place also feels wonderfully clean, fresh and mellow.”
“What a great place to get a haircut.”
“recommend he stops reading Running with scissors for hair tips, and go back to hair dressing school for a couple of extra semesters, or just stick to drying hair, and not use sharp objects.”
“can manage ridiculous people on the subway, but where I get my hair done?”
“but is it worth a less than professional staff and what seems to be a total disregard to organization of any kind?”
“Tanya not only gave me a great cut but took the time to show me how to style my hair in 5 minutes and she didn't blow-dry it she just let it air dry so I could see how it would look on a normal day and make adjustments if need be.”
Snarky receptionist, bungled appointment times.
I have had so many bungled appointment times at this place that each time I wondered why I kept trying to go back.
The last time I tried their new waxer she upsold me to a "shaped brow" which was more expensive, with out even telling me that was what she was doing. When I mentioned it to the receptionist she said, "you should really communicate better with the stylists." I told her that was her responsibility. She didn't seem concerned.
Another day I booked two services back to back, a massage and a haircut. They moved my haircut back without telling me, then told me I "would have more time to relax" after my massage. I don't need to relax in a salon waiting area.
The worst was when they simply booked my appointment on the wrong date. After I got a baby-sitter and arrived at the salon, they told me my appointment had been scheduled for the following week - oops.
I will say that Jocelyn is an excellent hair stylist, which is why I kept going back. But the receptionist has finally broken the deal. I'm moving on.
No longer the place for brows. After frequent happy visits to Elke, the former brows person, I decided to try the new location and staff. A huge disappointment. I miss Elke's experience. I was really upset at how my brows looked - messy and uneven.
Best hair cut I have ever had.
I recently moved into the slope and was dreading hopping on the bus to go to my regular salon in Williamsburg so I decided to take a friends recommendation and go Slope Suds. I hadn't cut my hair in 2 years because I wanted to donate it to locks of love so I was nervous to trust someone new with such a big change.
Tanya was my stylist. She listened to my request to have a mid-length cut that I would not need to style and that would not make my wavy hair look frizzy. I ask for this every time I get a haircut and never get what I want. Instead I always get a cut that looks great for a couple of days and then is impossible to manage once I wash it. Tanya not only gave me a great cut but took the time to show me how to style my hair in 5 minutes and she didn't blow-dry it she just let it air dry so I could see how it would look on a normal day and make adjustments if need be.
The cut was so perfect no adjustments were needed. This is by far the cutest cut I have ever had and I still love it 4 washed later.
worst highlights. Do not do your highlights here. The only great job they do is convincing you that you don't look brassy. 200$ please
Dear Kat O,
We do our best to make our clients happy. If you feel your color is brassy there are a number of possible options that we can offer you. Please feel free to give us a call so we can arrange an appointment. We are happy to assist you.

Jocelyn ROCKS!. I love, LOVE the new location! Same cool vibe as before, but much more space and they're even closer to where I live. I see Jocelyn and she really knows what she is doing. She'll even throw in a free bang trim between haircuts so my hair always looks nice. No wonder Time Out voted them "Best Place in the Slope To Improve Your Look"!
Slope Suds is the best. I love Hope, the new eyebrow lady at Slope Suds. My eyebrows didn't match because one is thinning. I don't know why. But she made them look really great without making the other one look like it was thinning too. And I got my arch back!! And thank GOD I don't have to go to Manhattan just to get good brows
Elke does the BEST Eyebrows!. Elke is the BEST eyebrow specialist and I was VERY upset when I find out she no longer works there. I was able to track her down though!!! She now works at the Janet Rufin's Salon on 19th Street, NY, (212) 627-2243 in Manhattan. I will now be following her there!
Great Haircut, Nice people, Professional Salon.
Tanya did an excellent job on my hair. I had long hair and was nervous about making a change but I really wanted to try something different. Tanya was patient and she took time to work with me. She was also honest with me about my hair type and face shape and what would look good. She talked to me about how to style my hair after my hair cut and gave really good advice on how to take care of it. She actually did what I really wanted her to do, which is not something I've always gotten at other salons where I have paid more.
Also, Jackie, the woman who was at the front desk, was very helpful. She was helping me articulate what I wanted and was also honest with me about my hair type and what would look good and be doable for my lifestyle. She made me feel less nervous and I was appreciative of that.
Everyone at Slope Suds was great towards me. This place is clean, professional, and not pretentious at all! Everyone was very down to earth and the staff seemed to get along well with each other and it made my visit fun. They are nice people who want you to have a great hair cut and will make you feel at home.
If you are using the online booking system, I recommend also calling to follow up to make sure you are scheduled in for your appointment. The website for Slope Suds is cool because you can see profiles for the people who work there and what they specialize in. You can get a lot of information on the website before your actual visit. Also, I was able to get an appointment with only a days notice so that made me pretty happy. I did not have to wait long when I got there and no one rushed me out, either.
I would recommend this salon to any of my closest friends.
Good cut, tiny place, unpleasant staff. I attempted to book an appointment on line, but never got a response from the salon so I called. The woman who answered the phone snarled that she had responded to my email (whatever). I really liked the woman who did my cut, but the place felt claustrophobic even though it was just me and three staff. When I left I had a totally bizarre and unpleasant exchange with the woman who manages the front desk (see snarler, above) and that's just two too many unpleasant incidents for my taste. I can manage ridiculous people on the subway, but where I get my hair done? No thanks.
Best men's haircut I've ever had. The thing is, Slope Suds really looked at me, talked to me about what they thought would work well and i left with a fantastic cut. I felt really handsome. This is the best cut I've ever had.
