Excellent and Effective Pilates. I have been a client at Bridge Pilates for over 2 years and my weekly session is always one of the highlights of the week. There is a great variety of instructors each with a unique body of knowledge, experience, and generosity of spirit. The specificity and intelligence of the instructors has been very helpful in recognizing movement habits and finding great balance, strength, and consistency of movement. The studio atmosphere is friendly, relaxed, and totally enjoyable. Bottom Line: a GREAT studio committed to keeping each individual strong!! Nowhere else I would rather do pilates!…
Spectacular Studio!.
I have been a client at Bridge Pilates since the studio first opened. Blossom Crawford is a shining star in the pilates world and offers specialized workouts for each of her clients. I have worked
with many of the other instructors as well and they are handpicked professionals with a great deal of knowledge and experience.
The studio itself is intimate and inviting. There are never more than 2 clients at a time, so the atmosphere is never crowded or frenetic. The machines themselves are gorgeous and the entire space is fresh and airy.
I highly recommend Bridge Pilates, you will not find a better studio in the entire city.…
Best pilates studio ever!. I have been a regular client there for over 3 years and have seen dramatic improvements in my strength and flexibility. The teachers are so great at determining my weaknesses and helping me hone in on areas I need to work on. I’m hooked!…
Best pilates on either side of the bridge!. Bridge Pilates is wonderful. Very personalized service and excellent choice of instructors. All are friendly, personable, informative, well-trained and make the workout fly by. I started pilates after the birth of my first child, and a few months later, my stomach was back to its pre-pregnancy look (and maybe a little better!). I am a believer!…
Supercalifragilistic.
I had always thought Pilates was one of those goopy, New Age-y exercise programs. Then again, the buffest woman I ever dated ran a Pilates studio. So, after falling off the fitness wagon, I decided
to try Pilates as a way to "get in shape to get in shape." First, I learned I was wrong about Pilates: it is a rigorous discipline that places a premium on form, posture, core strength and body awareness. Fran Darnell at Bridge Pilates is a gem. Her gentle and cheerful bedside manner masks a tough as nails instructor. She works with you patiently until you get a movement series down properly, all the while giving you a hard and exhilarating workout. Fran explains the purpose of each exercise and why even a slight shift in posture affects which joints and muscles come into play (she could probably teach a course in Anatomy). She offers endless encouragement, and teaches you to listen to your body so that you can unlearn the bad habits that lead to back aches and muscle pulls,
The setting at Bridge Piltates is great: intimate and quiet, so you don't feel like you're working out on the stage at Carnegie Hall. The studio is conventiently located even if you don't live in Brooklyn (it's a block from an F train stop; a five-minute walk from an A train stop), and the instruction fees are very reasonable, especially when compared to those at other, larger places.
