Excellent experience. In reading past reviews it sounds as though there are ups and downs here, but I ate at The Good Fork for the first time last night and had an incredibly good meal and experience. Each dish was excellent and the ambiance is cozy and charming. We started with the roasted beet salad, then I had the Berkshire pork shoulder and he had the striped sea bass. We finished the meal with flourless chocolate cake and key lime pie. The wines are good and not too expensive. Service could have been a little faster, but we were in the mood to sit and enjoy and that didn't bother us.

Great Food, Below Average Service. My boyfriend and I walked in off the street to The Good Fork last night after grocery shopping, being new to the neighborhood we were excited to try a new restaurant in the area. The place is cozy and food looked great. We were graciously seated, even though they were busy. (suprising for a Tuesday night). The food was actually very good and inventive. But we waited about half an hour between appetizers and entrees. I had to ask twice for bread since there was such a long wait. We ended our meal with a nice dessert. We waited another half and hour for the check and when I asked for it a second time was snapped at by the waiter. He informed me that they're VERY busy, and that there were only two people working that night. It was a Tuesday night and they should be able to handle the flow of a Tuesday night without the 1/2 hour waits between courses. All in all, the food was good and since there aren't many places to eat in Red Hook I'd go back but I'm not sure how long a restaurant with that kind of service will last.

Nice. Just Nice.. Had a very pleasant, if unmemorable dinner. The woodwork is lovely. The food was fine. Certainly not worth the trip, but if you happen to be nearby, try to drop in for a meal.

Very cozy, Great Food. This is a true gem. Great food, very cozy atmosphere, and very involved owners. When the weather is warm there is also a great patio in the back. The steak and eggs is very unique and quite wonderful. They also have a great and carefully selected wine list.

Great food, wonderful find. Love this restaurant! The food was great and original, the staff is warm and friendly, and the cocktails were good. Can't say enough good about the place. The window tables are cute and romantic. The prices are great.

great place to eat. Although it's a little out of the way, you can never go too far for a great meal... The pork dumplings were enjoyed (even by my boyfriend who claims he doesn's eat pork) but the crab cakes were excellent as well. Our mains were delicious and the service was warm and accomodating. While i ordered great wine, i couldnt help overhear how great the mojitos were. We will definitely be back. people who dont dare come to red hook, dont deserve a great meal, what a treat..and by the way, fairway is down the street so you can eat a great meal and then go to the best supermarket.

Very nice little restaurant. I finally made the journey out to Red Hook and was not disappointed. I had been hearing about this restaurant for months, and was very curious. We had a reservation, and the previous party was not moving although they had paid. The host who is also the owner was very apologetic, even though it wasn't his fault. When we were finally seated the service was very good. The atmosphere was very cozy and comfortable. The food was solid -- and definitely very very good. I would recommend the pork dumpling appetizer and the apple tart for dessert. I would love to go back, but the small space and the inconvenience of getting to Red Hook make it unlikely that the Good Fork will be one of my regular spots.

Worth the trek to Red Hook. A great cozy little restaurant with warm staff and wonderful food. Pork dumplings were lovely and delicate but with a flavor that really popped. Crab cakes are particularly amazing, meaty and nicely contrasted with chili aioli and endive/radish sprouts. Ravioli with mushrooms, arugala, and pine nuts was perfect. And then there's Steve's Key Lime Pie. Go now and make it an outing. Check out the lovely Red Hook Waterfront, some local arts, maybe a bar and this great little restaurant.

Local flavors bolster continent-spanning ambitions at this uniquely designed Red Hook eatery.. Owned and operated by a local couple, this Red Hook's mini restaurant row imparts a handcrafted, retro 1920s feel: A silhouetted dandy in hat and tails emblazons the front door, and the restaurant's curved wood ceiling, leather banquettes, and antique chandeliers recall a Deco train dining car. Neighborhood regulars fill the small space early, much to the chagrin of bus-riding foodies hoping to discover a hidden culinary Eden. The menu fares best when it's uncomplicated, like the flaky crab cakes, or the juicy burger. Korean fare makes an appearance in Kimchi rice, Korean-style steak and eggs.
