I live on their food!. My husband and I are totally addicted to the coconut bubble tea! I love the spicy shredded chicken sandwiches. I had pneumonia last year and had food delivered every 2 days, they were so good to me!! Now I am pregnant, they are often the only food I can stomach. Only improvement would be wheat bread, which I once asked the owner for, but he said it wasn't traditional - fair enough!

As everything is made to order - which I completely prefer - it can take a while and the staff turnover is pretty high. They are ALWAYS packed too, never once been in when there were not people waiting, not matter what time of day. Congrats, awesome food.

not going anywhere for a while ?. don't go here. i have been here several times and always waited for what seemed like forever. the last time i went in early afternoon, i waited 40 minutes for one sandwich and finally asked for my money back and left. Only one person makes ONE sandwich at a time. There must have been 6 or 7 people behind the counter and only one person makes sandwiches. I watched him make the same five sandwiches one at a time. if you have five separate orders for the same sandwich, why not make all five at once ? these people do not have a clue on how to manage and run a resturant. Oh and the Banh Mi is very medeocre. There is no reason to go here when all of the competition is better.

an hour-long wait for one sandwich-DONT GO HERE!. hanco's is a nightmare

there are always 10-12 people behind the counter, but nobody seems to be working.

you have to be really pushy just to get someone to take your order. otherwise they ignore you.

i ordered ONE sandwich at 3:00 in the afternoon when it was dead quiet . 45 minutes later i'm still waiting!

The only other customer had waited an hour. If you ask if it's ready, they just say "10 minutes". Finally after an hour the other customer and i asked for our money back and left, hungry as hell and having wasted an hour of our day!

So i go to Nicky's which is 3 blocks a way- they are super nice, they had ONE person working, and they served the sandwich in 2 minutes. Also- they are a little cheaper and the bread is crispier.

I will NEVER go back to Hanco's- it's always filled with people waiting for their food- nobody is ever eating.

The other posts that say they are disorganized and slow are from A YEAR ago, so obviously it's not going to improve. Go to nicky's- it's the original anyway. hanco's belongs to an employee that defected.

Absolutely Addictive. It's true that they're not fast, but the kitchen is spotless, the room is comfortable, the service is nice, and the food (and coffee) is delicious, inexpensive, and well worth any wait.

the best sandwich takes time. super great! but... how many people does it take to make a Hanco's sandwich? i understand that they are made with TLC... but fast take out this is not. 10 to 20 minute wait for a sandwich... what are they doing back there? as soon as you start thinking this is ridiculous you get your sandwich, take the first bite... and all is forgiven! fresh french bread, fresh ingredients, just the right spice. perfect vietnamese sandwich.

Very slow fast food. The sandwiches are really good: spicy, good quality meat, fresh baguettes, etc. These are just as delicious as Nicky's and other well-established banh mi shops in the city. The problem here is organization and speed of service. The other night I waited for over a half hour for a take-out order of 4 sandwiches. Someone else waited even longer for a smaller order. The food is worth it, but I suggest you order delivery, so that you don't have to read old issues of Robb Report while you wait forever in a small and hot room.

Mmmm...Bahn Mi!. Up there with the best bahn mi in the city. If you want the real deal, just ask for the #1 - be sure to ask for it spicy. This is one of the few places I've found that use proper french rolls. Sandwiches are about a buck more than at other places, but how can you really complain about a $4 sandwich. Another great sandwich can be found on 8th Ave and 43rd St. in Brooklyn. These places both beat any of the sandwiches I've had in chinatown in manhattan. Not that the manhattan ones are bad, these are just better.

Awesome Drinks. Some of the most unique and delicious drinks I've ever had. Definately try the fresh limeade and the Vietnamese eggcream.

Recommended. Hanco's sandwiches are fantastic! They just added a vegetarian version (Tofu sandwich) which is execellent! Also must try is their Bubble Teas which are their other specialty. Their Iced Vietnamese Coffee is Awesome too! Recommended if you are into sandwiches, Tea, and Coffee!

The Food. I tried the classic and grilled chicken with spicy and they were excellent! Best bubble tea drinks I had so far.
