“The staff was pleasant and wraps your purchases.”
“Their clothes are boring looking and way overpriced, however, they have a nice collection of books, puzzles and small toys that were very reasonable.”
“The style was fantastic, she did exactly what we wanted, no fuss, 20 minutes and my son did not cry, though it was his first hair cut.”
Children's store where they hate children and parents. I've long heard from other Moms how rude and unpleasant the staff was, but even with that information, I was shocked and horrified at the treatment we received at this store. My son and I were shopping for a toy and he/we were chastised because he touched a toy. The very nasty sales girls glared at us the entire time and we promptly left. I've never felt so uncomfortable in a store
Great place to get a haircut for your child. Carole Kimberg now cuts kids hair at Pomme on Saturdays. After our visit to her yesterday to cut my son's hair, i can attest that this woman is a true professional. The style was fantastic, she did exactly what we wanted, no fuss, 20 minutes and my son did not cry, though it was his first hair cut. Today, we washed his hair and it looks even better, its a great cut, i wish she cut adult's hair. She has a chair in Pomme and I looked around while we waited for her. Their clothes are boring looking and way overpriced, however, they have a nice collection of books, puzzles and small toys that were very reasonable. The staff was pleasant and wraps your purchases. I am not sure about a cardboard chair and other stuff that they have for sale.
Disappointment.
Pomme came recommended to us by a friend, but we were highly disappointed by:
(1) Unhelpful sales staff....there were no price tags on any items so we had to ask the sales person for quotes. Unfortunately she was too busy speaking in French to her friend and/or colleague. They were really annoyed to be interrupted by customers....
(2) $165 for a cloth birdhouse is absurd...stuff is violently overpriced.
(3) What they do have is nice, but there really is not a lot of stuff in the store...limited selection.
Bottom Line: There are several better staffed and stocked children stores in NYC.
For unique, non-commercial children's items, Pomme cannot be topped.. While some things are expensive, Pomme carries wionderful little books and toys that are handmade and unique and special for our kids. You can find beautiful items here for under $30.00. The owners are warm and friendly and the offerings are stylish but still keep kids looking like kids.
Grown-ups in touch with their inner (very stylish) child take their well-coiffed offspring to this DUMBO haven of children's couture..
In Short
The tiny, delicate clothing including cashmere sweaters, hand-knit slippers and print tees for tots contribute to Pomme's signature style for fashionable kids under the age of 4. Each piece in the store is handmade, and the boutique carries a wide variety of small clothing lines including local Brooklyn brands such as Pipsqueak Chapeau and Oeuf. While some brands run into the $1,000 range, bibs, toys, tees and books can be found for under $30.
