The Scene – A storefront window lends airiness and a large mirror appears to double the space, but it would take a master of illusion to make this teeny wine bar and panini shop seem spacious. In the dining half of the restaurant, local twosomes and foursomes squeeze into pint-sized tables. An open kitchen dominates the rest of the room. – – The Food – Italian bottles dominate the wine list, but the recommended Austrian pinot noir pairs well with the antipasti plate, a selection of cured meats, cheeses, and condiments, like caramelized figs. Bruschetta is generously…
Tost: Brilliance between two slices

I live in the neighborhood and had gone to Tost numerous times in the past couple of years before they closed. I loved chef Joe's simple, elegant sandwiches and his open, friendly demeanor. I will miss Tost and I look forward to Joe's next venture. I am writing this (belated) review because I strongly disagree with the previous poster; and concur with all of the other very positive comments about Tost on this site. I was also upset to see Mr. tostbardotcom(?) writing such negative words about a fellow restaurant owner. Moreover, had he "won" the said suit as claimed, why is he still bothering? Anyway, Tost was brilliant! Cheers Joe and I wish you the best of luck in the future.
Great place for kids

I came to Tost this past Saturday with my two kids (2 and 6). The food was great (I had a very generous arugala salad) and my kids had mac and cheese and a mortadella sandwich off the kid's menu. Even though the place was packed we had excellant service. Though Tost is small and cozy we had plenty of room. Hygeine was also top notch. I will definitly be back with my husband and kids to try more of the salads and paninis: definitly the most kid friendly , adult restaurant in Park Slope.
- Pros: service, cleanliness, food, great place for kids
- Cons: non yet
great ambiance, great food

After finally moving out of cthe city, I was glad to find a nice, cute, unpretentious spot to dine with my boyfriend. The salads and brushettas are simply amazing. I had an arugala beet salad with feta, while my boyfriend had a sopressata panini which he described as fantastic. The wine list is not extensive but is well chosen and eclectic. Ambiance is well noted even though it is a small restaurant. We had a quiet conversation rarely interupted by an attentive though not obtrusive waiter. I highly recommend Tost. It has a better vibe than any other restaurant on 7th ave and the food/service is fantastic. Oh, and at 8 dollars for a heaping salad and 6-7 dollars for a glass of wine, you can leave feeling fufilled without a dent in your wallet.
- Pros: food, service
- Cons: would like a more diverse wine list
The Details on Tost
Know Before You Go:
The tiny kitchen isn't equipped to churn out four paninis at once--ask them to serve your sandwiches one by one, as they're ready, or somebody may get stuck with a cold panini.
The Extras:
For the carb-phobic, a salad of prosciutto, arugula, percornio, and truffle oil makes a meal.
What to Drink:
Wine costs $5.50 to $7 by the glass and $22 to $44 by the bottle. For a mid-priced winner, try the Wagen Tristl Trocken, an Austrian Pinot Noir ($7 per glass, $32, bottle).
