In Short – The indoor-outdoor restaurant is not typical. Graffiti art decorates the place and the bar is made from a 1949 GMC pickup truck. Activities include live DJs, cultural performances, movie screenings and a car wash; plus, parents can relax with on-site activities for the kids. House salads, the famous Cuban, hamburgers and veggie burgers, beer and margaritas fill the casual menu. An added bonus: The whole restaurant runs on solar power.

want to love it but just can't

by not a fan

i want to like this place. the yard is kid friendly and comfy, the drinks are cheap and the food is good. But the service stinks. Maybe I'm too old and just not hip enough think some cool murals and solar panels make a place to cool it doesn't matter how the staff treats you. The system for ordering food and drinks isn't obvious. your first time there you wan to go directly to the truck to place an order because you see people getting food there. A small sign, waaaay above your head tells you to order inside and poor you if you miss it. the guys in the truck will do the least they can to help you -- and don't even think about asking them for a straw.

  • Pros: good food, fun space, kid friendly
  • Cons: service is arrogant and flat out bad

Awesome mojitos, great on a nice day

by memmy16

This place is worth it for the frozen mojitos. But beware: when it is crowded (as it tends to be on sunny days) the mojito machine can't keep up and the mojitos are not frozen, but still sold as mojito soup for $8. You'd think they would have gotten another machine to pick up the slack, but they haven't. The food is inconsistent - sometimes the Cuban sandwich is spot on, but others (like last night) half my sandwich was giant gobs of pork fat with no meat. And once my eggs with "Mexican cheese" had American cheese on top. The corn and plaintains are usually pretty good. I saw a rodent (citysearch won't let me publish the real word) scurrying across the outdoor patio last night, but I guess it's an outdoor place in NYC so that's gonna happen. Anyway, I'm realizing this review sounds negative but I live nearby and frequent Habana often for drinking, just want to point out the potential problems!

  • Pros: frozen mojitos, cheap beer, atmosphere on sunny days
  • Cons: food and drinks inconsistent
