The Scene
Song, the Thai word for "two," is Park Slope's sequel to Joya, a perpetually packed Thai spot in Carroll Gardens. The sister restaurants share identical menus and bear a striking family resemblance. Here, the slim bar area opens up to a spacious, streamlined, and bustling dining room. Industrial gray dominates the color scheme, but soft lighting warms the space and eclectic dance music (spun by a DJ on weekends) lifts the mood.
The Food
Inexpensive, large-portioned, Americanized Thai favorites are served up at lightning speed. A hearty helping of marinated beef tops a bed of lettuce, cilantro enhances a mild mango salad, and zesty sauce complements lightly battered calamari. The spicy broad noodles and green curry pack a punch and can be made spicier upon request, while copious bowls of pad thai and chicken in garlic sauce soothe more delicate palates. Desserts aren't offered, but the mango martini makes a sweet finale.

Song is so cute and the music is great. There's also outdoor sitting. It's always crowded, but the wait is worth it. My friends and I can't get enough of this place. I love the coconut soup, chicken sauteed chicken with vegetables in a fresh garlic sauce with sticky rice, mango rice pudding and the Tahi Spare Ribs. The drinks are also delicious. The best part is when you get the bill and only pay $20 each. BTW, this place is not small and it's very clean.

I went Monday night with my boyfriend because I passed by it all the time and thought the the look of it was unique. I knew it was a bad choice when we couldn't figure out where the door was. As soon as we entered I thought "this place is kinda small but they are plenty of people here so it must be good food". As we waited for a table I used the bathroom and I can only compare it to a bathroom at a public beach on the 4th of July. Ick. We were seated in fromt of the 'DJ booth" but the "DJ booth" was made up of crates holding up their DJ euipment which made it look dirty but I was glad no music was playing becasue its too small of a place to have really loud music, you might go tone deaf. Not too mention the decor and paint on the wall were drabe and depressing. But that wasn't the worse part. We kinda of indecisive as many of the items on the menu did not resemble thai food whatsoever and the waiter kept coming over to us asking if we were ready. When we were finally ready he came over and as my boyfriend took one more look at the menu, the waiter walks away. We order appetizers to start. He had the coconut chicken soup and I had the thai mango salad. When we received the food it looked like it would be good. But it was all smoke and mirrors. His soup tasted like smelly socks and my salad was gross and I picked the salad becasue I thought there is no way they can mess up a salad but they surely did. They actually put planters peanuts into the salad. I know Thai food uses peanut oil but Planters peanuts? Really? Him and I barely touched the appetizers and I had not ordered my entree yet becasue I was still deciding, well the appetizers made up my mind. I told my boyfriend "let's go, if the appetizers were this bad imagine what the entree's are going to taste like". We paid and left. We walked two blocks down to AOC bar and the food there was great.
