excellent pulled pork and mojitos. This place is quite small, but decently comfortable. The food I cannot attest to much; I always get one of the pulled pork dishes, but there's very little reason to get anything else. Wash it all down with mojitos or a nice imported beer.

Service has improved. I boycotted this place for a while since every time I went, regardless of whether the restaurant was packed or nearly empty, the service was terrible. My water glass went unfilled for almost the whole meal, food took forever to arrive, and sometimes we received chips and salsa while other times we inexplicably did not. Recently though, I gave it another shot, and fortunately they seem to have stepped up their game and gotten back on the ball. The food here is great - always fresh, hot and you can't find a better value on Smith Street than the medianoche Cuban sandwich with a side of maduros (rounding out to about $7). The stuffed poblanos with seafood are great, as are most of the chicken dishes, the ropa vieja and the shrimp and avocado salad. I'm glad to report they've ironed out the service kinks (knock on wood) and I look forward to returning sometime soon.

Great food! A bit noisy but it's Cuban, what do you expect!!!. I am a local restaurant owner. I have always had great food at Cafe Cubana and I highly recommend it! The chicken soup is superb and the Cuban sandwich is the best in town!

Rude Treatment. I ordered in and the portions were tiny for the price. I called to nicely complain and they were rude. I was told that the owner would be back at 8:30 pm and when I called, a "man" told me the owner would return after New Years. Seriously dissapointed. I will stick with Cafe Habana. Not a smart way to treat a customer and a neighbor.

Delicious Cocktails. This cozy cuban restaurant has a great cocktail menu to satisify anyone's craving for well-balanced (they have just the right amount of alcohol), AFFORDABLE, DRINKS!

As far as food goes I had the stuffed poblano chile which was genorously stuffed with shrimp and calamari; definitely worth the 10 bucks!

The menu has something for everyone, from sandwiches & quesadillas to "platos grandes" like the half roasted chicken with rice and beans for 8 dollars!

I highly recommend visiting this colorful & warm cuban spot (oh they also play great music)!

To be Avoided. A lovely room with delightful cocktails, poorly complemented by lackluster, lazy service, tough prosciutto and mediocre cheese, steaks entirely composed of gristle and undercooked, soggy oil french fries. Truly disappointing.

Yuck. Save your money.. I don't know where the other reviewers ate, but I doubt it was at Cubana Cafe. I took a date there awhile back. I don't remember what we ate, I just remember it was a terrible experience. I was actually ashamed. Go elsewhere.

a good thing in a small package. solidly delicious meal- i haven't been disappointed by anything in the dozen or more times i have eaten there over the last 6 months- I love the red snapper, the pulled pork, the great corn on the cob... and finish it all off with a cake...i love the tres leches!!!

Great delivery -- a great alternative to the usual. When you're bored with all the Asian food in the area and want a refreshing change, head for Cubana Cafe. They might not bring the mojitos, but the rest of the menu is tasty and inexpensive. Don't forget to order a side of sweet plantains (with spicy mango salsa), and enjoy the empanadas (with chic pea salad on the side). Mmmmm!

Mojo Habana!. I really should not be writting this as I live in the hood and would rather keep the secret to myself, but I just ca't help it! Small? True. But this place has thrived. An alternative to dinner would be lunch or even breakfast. Dave and I had the place practically to ourselves yesterday around brunch time and enjoyed a feast. I had the Cuban version of Eggs Benidict (#41 on the menu!) made with spicey slices of choizo on soft Cuban bread covered with two perfectly poached eggs and a sauce that needs to be tasted to be believed. Served with rice, the breakfast satisfied. All the while they were cutting limes and tearing mint for the mojitos so the place was filled with summer smells, and the coco cappucino is truly a delight! For a taste of the forbidden Island, this place rocks.
