The Scene
The restaurant packs Brooklynites in so tight that tables must be moved to allow for seating. But no one scrunched into the Havana-styled space seems to care, a testament to the authentic flavors. Food service moves quickly, but drinks can be slow going.
The Food
The handwritten menu lists a host of Cuban and Latin American specialties, all under $10. Start with a double order of the crispy coconut shrimp, but skip the overcooked corn cob topped with chipotle mayo. Entree choices seem endless--braised beef, pounded chicken, garlic shrimp, poblano chile, hanger steak--but the platter of subtly spiced pulled pork, served with whipped plaintains, is the restaurant's best. The Cuban sandwich is small in size but big on flavor thanks to tender, smokey roast pork, sliced ham, melted Swiss and a pickle for tang. Instead of the so-so tres leches, opt for another round of devilishly good caiparenhas.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

I have to say I keep going back to this place. The elote is great, prices are reasonable and the mojitos are delicious. However, the service is really bad! They are rarely friendly, don't ever check back to see how the food is, don't refill waters, and then you end up waiting forever for your check. We go back for the food but every time are disappointed by the service.

Stood at the bar for at least 20 minutes as other tables were seated - reservations need not apply they won't honor them. Added 2 entrees to our bill with scribbled handwriting hoping we wouldn't notice. No water refills - rude and condescending staff that would rather watch the projection TV than help patrons.

Save Time:
For a quieter dinner at home, have it delivered from 11am to 11pm.
What to Drink:
If the super-strong caiparenha or minty, but slightly too sugary, mojito isn't for you, try a generous glass of house wine for only $4.
