“We stumbled upon this great little restaurant the other week and decided to give it a try, and WOW, what a real find!”
“While the food is always excellent at Jolie, some of the staff have less to be desired.”

“The ambiance had me sold from the minute I walked into the backyard for dining alfresco on a beautiful summer evening.”
I believe this restaurant is closed. too bad, I liked it when I went there years ago.
French owner is racist and arrogant!. I was attracted to the ambiance of this quaint French restaurant. Made a mental note to come in and try the cusine. I finally had the opportunity the evening of the Atlantic Antic Festival 2010. As I entered the restaurant, I was approached by a human pitbull inquiring if I was a customer there. I said "I am going to the bathroom first, then I will have dinner." I do not know about the rest of you, but my Mom taught me to wash my hands first before I sit down and eat. The human pitbull stated that I had to go to the diner across the street to use the bathroom. WTF! I tried to pass by the blockade of the human pitbull and he assaulted me. The owner shouted that he does not have to serve me and to leave the restaurant. I felt like I was back in the late 50's in a department store diner. Another employee, with a calm demeanor, escorted me out of the restaurant. He tried to make excuses for the owner by stating that the owner had gotten a few NYC Department of Health violations and was stressed. Maybe it's a good thing that I got thrown out. It may have saved me a trip to the hospital. Diners beware!
One of my Favorite Restaurants in the neighborhood. I just love coming here! I love sitting at the bar with a glass of wine. I love the attentive service and the friendly owner. I just wish I could stop ordering the Ravioli with cheese sauce, it is so rich, but so good!
Great atmosphere and good food. I went with my parents to dinner at Jolie and all three of us were impressed. They have a patio and garden that are open in the summer which are nice contrast to Atlantic Avenue. The food was good and reasonably priced. We were sitting toward the edge of the patio so it seemed like there were constantly servers running back and forth but this was only minorly annoying. Overall a good experience and a great neighborhood place.
great, amazing food. annoying host. While the food is always excellent at Jolie, some of the staff have less to be desired. For instance, the host has a sort of chip on his shoulder and he's too busy flirting with the other staff then helping his clients. He "playfully" attempts to push wine on you so he gets a bigger tip (he can also be your waiter, even though he only takes your order) and if you order a cheese plate, you're on your own. He just slapped in on our table and walked off---good thing I know something about cheese, he on the other hand, knows noting about service.
Just Wonderful... Celebrated a friend birthday here and we had a wonderful time. Food was very good, servers were all attentive and knowlegeable. Couldn't ask for more. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
all around great. I've been here a couple times, and live very close. The place always looks friendly and inviting. The food was very good! Delicious, fresh, nice presentation. I've always had good experiences with the service, friendly and fairly attentive. Good drinks. Pricey, but all around a nice dining experience.
Better CHECK before you pay your bill. I'll be honest, this is my second time back to this restaurant because the first time wasn't so bad and my girlfriend liked the decor. The second time back was just a big disappointment. Despite the fact that it's a quiet week night and the restaurant half full, our food still took for about 30 minutes after the appetizers were served. When the food finally came, it was served half warm. I was so irritated at this point, I just wanted to get the check and get outta there before I curse someone out. And when we go the check, we were charged for something we did not order (over $25 dollars worth). I would recommend Burger King or other Take-out over this place.
Our former neighborhood fave - Avoid at lunch.
We have enjoyed Jolie many times for dinner. I decided to take a friend there for lunch and it was a disaster. It took forever for our order to be taken and our food to be served (it was not busy, midweek at 1:45pm). My appetizer was burned on top and my friend's fish was over salted. To top it off, they recently changed their policy and now only take AMEX. The 4+ previous times we have gone there, we paid using Visa. I asked the server about the change and he gave me attitude, as if this had been the policy all along.
The experience was so disappointing that I had to change my previously glowing review.
C'est si bon!. I have eaten at Jolie three times and every time it has been just spectacular! The steak tartare is a perfect starter. The lamb is falling-off-the-bone delicious and served with the most wonderful potatoes. And the tilapia...utterly amazing. The staff: on pointe and not at all snotty. Cocktails: A great drink list---try the Magda. Wine: such great selections. One of the few places in the neighborhood that offers wines from the Pacific Northwest (try a red from Dunham Cellars). I could go on and on....
