“He uses kerastase products, offers coffee or a glass of wine, and has a charming easy manner.”
“The staff seems nice, but my haircut is awful and cost a ridiculous amount of money.”
“And for those saying it's overpriced, they obviously haven't had cuts in NYC - his prices are more than reasonable for the level of cut and service you get- the men's I think are 70 or 80 and the women 100 or so- I can't remember because I always wind up ”
Avoid. I've never written a complaint on anyplace before but I just couldn't let this go. This place is terrible. Very unprofessional. The salon is pretty but never judge a book by it's cover. I should of known. None of the other clients looked happy either. Save your money. Don't waste your time.
Manhattan cuts, Brooklyn prices. I've never had a bad cut, which is really saying something. WIth wavy hair, cuts can usually go either way. But, at Femmina, I know it will be spectacular. Plus, their European hair exchange students are very sweet.
My Favorite Salon, Ever. I have been going to Fabio at Femmina Salon for several years. He has totally taken care of my hair. I don't even tell him what I want- he knows just to make me look great with a modern haircut that flatters me. He never fails to come through and I'm always getting tons of compliments on my hair! He really knows what he is doing and getting a haircut with him is always a fun experience. The staff will bring you cappuccino's or wine and is very friendly. Also, Mindy is amazing with color!
Loving my long hair for the first time ever. Fabio helped me grow out my hair after a lifetime of stylists saying "but your face is so PERFECT for short hair" and I was convinced I wouldn't like it- I love it, and I love him. And for those saying it's overpriced, they obviously haven't had cuts in NYC - his prices are more than reasonable for the level of cut and service you get- the men's I think are 70 or 80 and the women 100 or so- I can't remember because I always wind up getting product as well.
Guys, Fabio will take care of you ....
This is for the guys out there who don't think a salon cut is worth the extra money ... Fabio, the owner and head stylist, is worth every penny. Not only is he a totally chill dude with a hilarious sense of humor, he's a careful analyst and uber-knowledgeable pro who wiil give you the cut you want -- even if, like me, you don't have any idea what you're looking for.
I'd been getting my hair cut at shops in Chelsea in Astor Place for the past three years, paying $20-30 and never being truly satisfied. No longer -- I'm a salon guy now. Fellas, go get yourself converted.
Rip off. The staff seems nice, but my haircut is awful and cost a ridiculous amount of money. The owner/stylist and I spoke for a long time about what I wanted, then he completely disregarded all of that and gave me exactly what I said I didn't want. Very disappointing.
Incredible haircut plus espresso. I have had my hair cut by Fabio for the past year and a half. I have unfortunately moved to philly, but it is still worth it to me to take the train to get my hair cut by him. My cut looks healthy and natural and is easy to style and maintain. He uses kerastase products, offers coffee or a glass of wine, and has a charming easy manner. I used to live in Brooklyn Heights and it was so wonderful to have a top notch salon that was even better than the place i used to go in the west village. Cuts are about a hundred, but worth every penny.
GREAT SERVICE, COMFY SALON, AMAZING CUT. I HAD A HAIRCUT BY FABIO (THE DIRECTOR) AND COULD NOT BE MORE PLEASED WITH THE CUT. HE SPENDS A LOT OF TIME CUTTING YOUR HAIR TO MAKE SURE ITS PERFECT FOR YOU AND HIS STAFF HIS EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE TO BE AROUND. UNLIKE SO MANY OTHER TOP SALONS YOU CAN ACTUALLY ENJOY YOUR TIME AT THIS SALON. EVERYONE MAKES YOU FEEL AT HOME AND KEEPS YOU OCCUPIED. THE STAFF WAS WONDERFUL TO TALK TO AND WAS VERY KNOWLEDGABLE ABOUT HAIR AND THE PRODUCTS YOU SHOULD USE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SALON TO PEOPLE WHO NEED A CHANGE AND WANT A CUT THAT SUITS THEIR PERSONALITY AND STYLE.
great service, awful haircut. I had high hopes for Femmina after searching for a decent salon in Brooklyn for months. The staff was warm and friendly but my stylist, while a charming guy, did not seem very experienced. That fact was made clear when I went home to examine my hair and saw that it was completely uneven! I had a veteran hairdresser go through it a week later and she was shocked at how badly the layers were cut. He missed huge sections! I didn't go back to complain because he was such a nice guy but I DID pay $80 plus tip so i thought I'd air my grievances here. I guess this place is good if you go to the guy that owns it but other than that it doesn't seem that the stylists are trained (or tested) at all.
