In the mating of subdued Midwest kitsch and Brooklyn-brownstone cool, a mutt was born, and like most mutts, this one's more loveable than its purebred cousins. The eclectic double-storefront bar is visually divided by conversation-friendly groupings of antique couches, comfy leather chairs, high- and low-top tables and a long salvaged bar. The walls further create the illusion of multiple spaces, with sections covered in tin, wallpaper and exposed brick. In a rather plucky move, the Brooklyn Heights bar gives up a valuable lounging space to an indoor bocce court. The cheap draft…
IRRESPONSIBLE BAR ALLOWS CHILDREN TO RUN AROUND!
by Bridget_Jones at Citysearch
Ok - this is INSANE! A bar - that allows BABIES AND CHILDREN!????? HOW INAPPROPRIATE! What's next? Allowing Parent's to bring their children in strip clubs?!! C'mon people! If you have a baby - you are expected to make sacrifices. If you aren't prepared to make sacrifices, like going to a bar - you shouldn't be having children. It's downright IRRESSPONSIBLE. Both on the parents and the establishment that allows them in here. Not only is it imposing on the rest of us that come here to be among other "grown ups" - parents who DRINK IN A BAR with their KIDS - Child services needs to take those kids away from them! Why? Because they are TOO IRRESPONSIBLE OR TOO SELFISH TO GET A BABYSITTER. Drinking in a bar with your kids is like DRINKING AND DRIVING or SMOKING around your kids. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!! YOU KNOW THESE KIDS ARE GOING TO GROW UP TO HAVE A SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROBLEM WHEN THEY GET OLDER BECAUSE OF THIS! And you know what their excuse is going to be when they're in rehab? "Mommy used to get tipsy at Floyd's back when I was 4". or "I had my first sip of a martini when mommy wasn't looking when i was 7 years old and we used to go to Floyds all the time because it was the only bar that allowed children." I weep for the children of the parents who come here and drink instead of leaving their kids at home with grandma or babysitter.
- Pros: Great for ALCOHOLIC PARENTS who are selfish and have no sense of responsibility
- Cons: TERRIBLE for anyone who wants to go for a drink with their friends and is the LEGAL drinking age!
warning: kids running in this bar

I went to Floyd few days ago, together with my friends. We wanted to stay for a drink. However, to my astonishment, we saw kids running in the bar! We went somewhere else. A bar is supposed to be a place where people meet friends and rest. It's not a place where customers go to look at someone's kids running or listening to their noise.
If you are looking for a kindergarten, not a bar, this is a place for you.
Best jukebox around
by karmaonion at Citysearch
I recently moved to Brooklyn Heights and can't praise Floyd enough for being the best bar in the neighborhood. The couches are unique, cute, and comfy, and on a weeknight there's usually a puppy or two in the crowd. The bocce court is a unique, fun touch, and the jukebox is so far the best I've found in the city. Also, when you choose songs, they actually play them -- you don't get the endless wait I've found at other places. Floyd does get pretty packed on weekends now, but it's still fairly age diverse, moreso on weekdays, and just has a great vibe that neither too hipster or too sports-y for its own good. Definitely recommended!
- Pros: great jukebox, fairly cheap, bocce!
- Cons: crowded on weekends
