The Scene
With its airy ambience and clean, modern lines, Tempo stands out amidst Fifth Avenue's dimly lit bistros and bare-bones takeout spots. It's a Park Slope interpretation of a Barcelona restaurant--white stucco walls, square panels colored in soothing desert-accented hues of yellows, greens and browns, a tin ceiling shining with polish, and curtained windows in the back offering just a peek of greenery. Attention from waiters in white aprons is meticulous and warm, but never obtrusive.
The Food
The menu swerves ambitiously through the Mediterranean region: From Morocco comes crisp, cinnamon-heavy pastilla rolls; the Riviera births velvety duck stuffed with mushrooms duxelles; and Sicily brings thick, homemade bucatini with luscious pistachio pesto. A few Brooklyn overlays stumble, such as the too-heavy chickpea "fries" that come stacked like Lincoln Logs, but the perfectly pink rack of lamb accompanied by mint-strewn couscous scores, as does the shareable date pudding drizzled with toffee sauce.

So this is possibly my new favorite lunch spot. Their pre fixe is cheap and really great. And they are abe to get you in and out fast which is great since I don?t have much time usually. It?s always sorta tempting to get a glass of wine though. I guess I?ll have to try it out for drinks or dinner some time!

I ate at Tempo for the first time on Friday and was very impressed. The food was outstanding (I highly recommend the Duck with bacon roasted pears)! The service immaculate and genuine. And not only that we had a great bottle of spanish wine and with our food the check was still incredibly reasonable. I will definitely be returning soon, especially now that on Tues. and Wed. nights all of the wines by the bottle are half price. Hats off you you Tempo!

I recently visited Tempo for the first time with a friend. I was pleasantly impressed by everything about this place. It was quite busy on a Saturday evening but we were able to find a couple of seats at the bar. The bartender was amazing with great conversation and excellent recommendations for wine pairings. Our dinners were superb. I had the duck pastilla rolls (OMG!!!) and the pork chop over polenta. Followed by the Molten Chocolate cake. I'm told that the gelato is made in-house and I found it to be excellent. My friend had the chicken dish and the sticky date and toffee pudding with whipped coddled cream on top- wow! The wine list is incredible. The atmosphere and decor are superior without a snobby feel. I highly recommend this place for a nice dinner. Again props to the bar tender for being an expert in her field and so pleasant to be around.
