One of the city's most formidable Italian-style pizzerias, Fornino serves up an especially faithful version of La Vera Pizza Napoletana, the official designation of Naples. The pie is made thin, cooked hot, and has minimal toppings. These include fresh mozzarella, and, here anyway, some very high-quality artisanal ingredients. But the best is the simple margarita. These pizzas are too good to dilute, and anyway they're not really meant to have toppings.
Wow! – This place is massive, a beautiful dining room, full bar (awesome chocolate grappa), and an on site-bakery where they make all there own breads and pizza.
Started with a real good $28 bottle, shared 3 apps (cold artichoke was out of this world) and ordered three pizza's to share (grilled chicken, spinach and white truffle, fontina and parachute . The thin crust was a nice touch), shared desserts, 2 cannoli's, chocolate cake and the best panna cotta i'v ever had.
combined with the great service and friendly active owners, this places earned 5 stars.
Ciao Bella Now Uses Fillers in their Ice Cream! – Diasppointed to see that many (all? - we had their chocolate and triple espresso) of their ice creams now use
- Guar Gum
- Locust Bean Gum
all at the same time. Yikes! We loved the ice cram they make, but now won't touch it. Had some lately and wondered why it tasted funny. Then we read the list of ingredients. Looks like the expansion of their business drove a once great brand to focus more on profits than on the quality that got them to the top.
truly best pizza in NYC – I'm not much of a review writer but this place really deserves a nod. We have eaten here about twice a month over the last year or so. I like thin crust pizza and there's nobody in the city that I know of that does it better than these guys. My favourite is the Fungi Misti, a white pizza with mushrooms and truffle oil. We have found the specials to be a great choice every time we eat here as well. If you can't decide, just go with the special ! The espresso could use some more crema, but the gelato makes up for that. A little surprised they're not on the "best of" list this year, a tragic oversight ?!
hubba hubba – freshest ingredients, all good quality, no cardboard cans of cheese here. Reminds me of my fav place in Rome near the train station.
Try the dishes, real fine.
fine palates to family get togethers excellent – from the moment i walked in to paying the bill i felt i was getting what i expect when i choose to eat out rather than stay home.we tried samples of most of the menu as and liked each one better than the next.we had a couple of questions not only was the waiter helpful the owner felt responsible enough to come over answer any questions and cater to our specific needs.I can cook -when i go i out i look for the whole package and the experience did not disappoint especially the food.
Killer Pizza – I had never been to Brooklyn. We went to Fornino for a late lunch. The pizza was out of this world and the place had a feel that made us sad to leave. Just a really great vibe. We thought the prices were fair as well. My first visit to brooklyn was a great experiance thanks to Fornino.
Beautiful italian food, if you have a deep pocket, but I will eccomended for the true italian experience. It is worth it the trip to brooklyn, I never found nothing similar in the city.
Great Pizza – Truly delicious pizza - the Lombardi, with proscuitto and arugula, and the Margherita are my favorites. It's a comfortable neighborhood place, though service can be a bit unattentive at times. The tiramisu is some of the best I've ever had.
great for lunch! – the delicious pizza here is great anytime, but great for a quick lunch outside of the office. the al roker pie is great.. and the arugala sald with pear and gorgonzola amazing!
Awesome pizzas – As a fan of traditional/authentic italian pizza, I was a bit dubious of a place called "the Art and Science of pizza (all the more that I heard bad comments about the so-called "attitude" of the staff). The pizzas are just awesome. Thin Crust. Delicious tomato sauce and the freshest ingredients. Ive tried many different pizzas (take-out) and Ive never been disappointed. Im definitely converted.
